Title: Error Encountered Bally Alpha V32
Post by: 777tow on December 22, 2019, 12:08:26 AM
Okay...I'm learning here. Got this message: ERROR!! Boot device other than first compact flash or disk. System will be halted. What did I do? I did a factory reset. How do I fix this issue?

I think you have to reinstall the os if you cleared it.  I have never had to clear to change games on A2 22/22 or curve.

Yes, you have to reinstall the os.

So maybe that's where the problem lies when loading using a USB and OS and game cannot be installed using a USB. Grrrrrrrrr..... lol

You should be able to copy the files using Windows 7, (do not use 10) to a CF card big enough.  Format the card to NTFS and then copy the files off the thumb drive to the card. Install card in the top slot and OS or game card in the bottom slot.

Really, I thought it messed up the card?  or am I confusing that with WMS cards?

The Win10 issue is with Bally Alpha1 cards where the validation is done to the card itself and not the contents.

You can use a USB thumb drive to install OS on an A2 mpu, you just need to have an OEM Bally thumb drive, a generic one will not work.
