Title: Williams 550 ram clear issue
Post by: fzzapo on February 08, 2020, 04:52:51 PM
Hello everyone I am new to Williams 550 slots . This slot has a cpu1.5 . Came up with a corrupt memory are and said to clear ram.  So I followed the ram clear procedures. Screen said ram cleared. I waited for the bong and powered off. I removed the clear chip and replaced the eprom with the notch facing the correct direction.
I powered on and I am getting the bong but the i/o led on left and the led display on cup board just flash every couple seconds. This is a Hot Toppings with version 1 of software.
I thought it may be the cpu board so I purchased a cpu and I/O and did a ram clear on that set but I am getting the same issue. I did notice the second board I purchased had version 2 of the software.

Does anyone know what the flashing led and led display mean? I have not been able to find anything

I don't understand when you say "Led display on cup board just flash"

So when it first boots up the top left led and led flash for a second. But after a few seconds this process continues to happen seems like the software freezes then restarts . Not sure if I can post a short video on this or not.

What ram clear are you using? The ones I use have you select the denom and coin comparitor type before it clears.

That is correct I select the denomatiom then the coin comp.  Then clear it says ram has been cleared power of and replace the game chip. I hear the bong. Power off then put game chip in

I would look at the inner power supply inside your power box.  The inner power supply does the 5v and 12v.  Looks for caps that are bulging, that's probably your issue.
