Title: No 3d reel video image
Post by: jthelman on March 28, 2020, 06:15:50 AM
Need some help with my machine not showing 3-D video reel images as the reels spin.  My machine has a MLD monitor and a video card E4690.  Games loaded on the machine are Game King 8.3, 6 slot machines and 4 slots with 3-D video.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am guessing that your rear monitor is dead.  If that is the case, complete monitors are available fairly cheap on Ebay.

Thanks for your fast reply. Not sure what happened to the message I had typed, but only the image got posted.
The machine is AVP G23 with a MLD monitor and has a video card E4690.
The monitor displays well with all games except games that have video 3-D. The 3-D games display everything except for the reels spinning.

Thanks!

Take a photo of the back of your monitor where the plugs are in.  The 3D part requires a jumper be placed between two connectors, if you are missing this jumper, the bottom lcd does not get any signal to it.

Thanks, looks like the jumper is in place. Someone told me that maybe it's because I have Game King 8.3 installed. I also have 5 normal slots and
4 3-D slot games installed on the machine. All games work great except for the 3-D games.

I had gameking 8.3 on a machine with various 3d slots and they all worked correctly.  My guess is that the 2nd lcd panel might be bad.  I believe you can individually test each panel by connecting a pc to each of the VGA ports on the jumper to see if you get an image.

A couple of notes:

The non 3D games use the front screen so that why you don't see issues, its the rear screen that's out.

If all 3-D games do the same thing its probably a monitor issue, if only one 3-D game is missing the 3D it's an issue with the specific game you have, I have seen both of these scenarios.

Note you have a 24 Volt monitor, they make the monitors in 12 volt and 24 volt, you can use a 12 volt in your system but you would need the proper power supply.

Is very difficult to change out the monitor?  How time does it take for a job like this?

If you have a G23, the monitor can be removed, it is relatively easy, but it takes some time and patience.  I usually remove the entire monitor frame including the bezel as one piece.  Then rest the monitor on a towel or soft surface to prevent scratches and then remove the monitor from the frame.  If you will be removing the monitor, I can take a photo of the back of my door and point out the screws that need to be removed.  Then the whole assembly is removed from the front.  You have to disconnect everything that is on the door from the cabinet, that includes the validator ready light, the back of the button assemblies and all the cabling that goes to the monitor.

Here are the photos of the back of my G23.  You basically remove the 4 bigger screws that hold the monitor and the bezel to the door's frame.  Then any of the small nuts that are on metal need to be removed.  Remove the little ones first because the bigger one hold the bulk of the frame.  You will also need to remove all cabling so the whole front door bezel can be removed.  It is removed from the front, the whole thing just come out through the front.

Thanks to everyone and will attempt this procedure when I receive my new monitor.
