Title: Ken - Ohio Gaming
Post by: One Leg Dude on April 23, 2020, 12:44:53 PM
I recently had seen a post that mentioned my name. I couldn't log in with my previous username so now I have created a new one.

My son did take over the business but he had planned on moving on from the slot business since he didn't have the same interest that I had with slot machines. He stopped selling machines in mid 2018 but continued selling parts. He sold the business and rights to Ohio Gaming last year to the Day Family who own Slot Machines LTD/Ohio River Slots.

There may be a member or two that knows I was involved in a very serious accident last August, hence my new username. I have since lost a lot of my interest I had with slot machines and along with other things in life. I am now learning how to live life differently.

I have several personal machines that I started working on getting up and running in the last month and started selling them off. Since slots were a big part of my life I will continue to read the posts here as it occupies part of my time during the day. I don't have the memory any longer to offer support, don't want to direct anyone in the wrong direction, so it will be unlikely that I will be active in helping to trouble shoot machines.

In a nutshell that's it.

Ken its good to still have you on board.

I remember reading about a marine that had both of his legs blown off just above the knee by a IED in Kandahar.
He was spending most of his time in rehabilitation using artificial legs but started helping out around the hospital when he could and his positive attitude helped out other injured soldiers.

Apparently he was interviewed and they asked how he could be so positive after such a debilitating incident. His response was that it was only in the USA that he could enter the hospital as a 5'10 dude and come out 6'2 with his new prosthesis.

I couldn't find a link to that specific story but here are some others just as inspiring.

You also need to remember that Australian dude Oscan Pistorius who wanted to compete in both the Para and regular Olympics.
I think they disqualified him for the regular Olympics because his prostetics gave him an unfair advantage but still he was on top of his game. Of course what he really got famous for was shooting his girlfriend but that could happen to any of us (ha ha).

Sheez Ken, I sure am sorry to hear about your accident.  I hadn't heard anything about it, but was just thinking about you the other day when someone responded to a two year old post of yours.  I was hoping that you were off fishing or just doing whatever you felt like to enjoy your retirement.  We just never know what life is going to throw at us from one minute to the next.  I'm thankful you're still here with us and hope you are able to recover from all of this the best you can.

Godspeed my friend.  Take care,
Cliff

Ken, sorry to hear about your accident but glad to hear your back  at it a little. Bob and I were just talking about you a few days ago and both wondered how you were . Not quite what we had figured but really great to hear from you. Thanks for all your help over the years. Scott

Ken,
I was aware that Chris had sold the business (called your old number and got Ohio Slots), but I did not know about your accident, very sorry to hear.
Shoot me a PM with your new information and I'll see if we can do dinner again after this Corona crap blows over.
Rich

Thanks everyone. I do miss talking and seeing all of you.

Thanks for the links Jay. My amputation included taking out my left hip so I don't have a stump. I was lucky that they were able to save my right leg. I'm able to get around with a walker and I can drive an automatic shift vehicle/tractor now. I just have to learn how to ask others for help nowadays which is probably the hardest thing for me to do.

Hi Ken,

Sorry to hear of your accident.  Best wishes on your continued recovery.

I can help you regain access to your old account here if you'd like.  Feel free to shoot me a PM.  Do you still have access to the e-mail address that is associated with that account ( ohio*********ts@gmail.com )?
