I have a long VFD in one of my machines all the others have short one's. The short one's have a metal bracket to keep them tight. My long one does not and it leans back from the reel glass and is rubbing the reels. Not enough for a tilt but is rubbing grooves in the VFD plastic. Not sure if there is supposed to be something metal to stiffen it up or not.

Try loosening the reel tray screws and push the tray as far back as you can and then tighten the reel tray while applying pressure toward the back of the cabinet.

The long plastic VFD uses a 2" wide metal plate that mounts at the center screw and to the right of the denom bulb socket. That plate keeps the VFD tight to the reel glass. Yours is missing. Also pull your reels and spray some lube on the reel Molex connectors and reseat your reels.
