Title: Installing Bally Alpha Games
Post by: rey02 on May 23, 2020, 06:44:43 AM
Hi all, hoping someone can help me out. I have twogames that I want to install to my Bally alpha. First game is Quick hit Black & White AVGQPBW017GL-00 256mb and Roulette AVGRLBS017NV-02 128mb. I currently have a Bally Cinevision running a 512mg mpu with bios AVBPROD0R807-00 and NV jurisdiction. Would I be able to install these games on this type of cabinet? If so, would I also need to upgrade to a 1gb mpu? The OS I currently have is a 317. Appreciate any help!
Thanks
Rey

Until someone has a better answer, the QH game probably requires dual screens.  If Roulette installs it will be sideways I believe.  Give them a try.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. I’ll post an update after.

They are both V32 games, so they will play sideways on your machine.  You don't need the 1GB mpu for either one of those.

I tried to load roulette today, as it was booting up it said “flash does not support dbma” then the screen goes black. Is this a bios issue?

No, that is normal, some cards do not support dma transfers, they just load slower that is all.  What bios and OS are you using, if your screen just goes blank, you may need a newer version of the bios/os combination.

That's a pretty old bios/OS, works with a lot of things, but not everything.  I would suggest you upgrade to the 300 bios and the corresponding OS family OS33x.  They shouldn't be too difficult to find.  You will also need a new clear card for the newer BIOS/OS combination clear 335.
