Title: Mk7 carrier board/BIOS and Game versions?
Post by: Mk7_4fun on June 30, 2020, 11:52:56 PM

Hi All,

Just wondering what the relationship is between games, main board revisions, BIOS and Linux version and whether older hardware needs updating for newer non-WS Viridian games?

Looking at a table the someone put together with the different variants for the MK7 hardware,  it shows that a Green board (19") with a carrier Board 578659, Version Rev A and color GREEN, with Video Card "generic" and BIOS 1.00.0 supports MBR 3.9 with Linux OS 3.04.1.

What happens when I get a newer Mk7 game running a later version of Linux say 3.042? Do I need to upgrade the BIOS? Can I upgrade the BIOS on the older carrier board revision? If so, how do you source the newer images? What are the BIOS chips and where can you get them from?

So I suppose my other question is, when would you need to upgrade the BIOS on a Viridian 19"? I know with the RED boards from reading the forum that the newer BIOS 2.02.1 is needed for GT630 and I think the dynamic buttons?

thanks

To run the newer games you would need a WS board and a gt430 video card
You dont need a dynamic button panel.

what about newer 19" games that show a different LINUX version on them? I suppose its just the Operating System so as long as the hardware matches it should work where we know the WS games need the correct BIOS to support the GT430-GT630 video cards.
