Title: S+ problem
Post by: therockinelvis on August 06, 2014, 05:35:41 PM
A customer called having a problem. The machine is set coinless with the hopper pay set to zero and coin in bypassed. They hit a triple, triple, seven. They said machine was making noise like it was paying coins (no hopper). So they turned the J/P key to clear the win. Now the bill validator will not light up and take bills. It is cycling. If machine was adding credits when they turned key would that cause a problem? When machine is turned on it does the maiden spin and coins played flashes like it is ready to resume play but no bill accepted. Has wba 12. Had them check and it had 9-1 so bvd is still on. Any idea's? I hate making a 90 mile service trip

Maybe the noise is the counter counting up credits and not the hopper and maybe it will not accept bills till the counter is done counting ?

That would be simple to check, is the credit meter ascending? Not sure that you can interrupt credit count up on an S+ and the meters rolling up doesn't delay game play. It catches up when it catches up, but all credits have to finish being added before the game will run again. What is the credit limits set at? How close to the limit was he before this win?

OK here is what happened. Partly my fault for giving a "RESET" key. I had explained that there was no hopper and setting was at zero to force all cash out to hand pay. Told them if someone accidently hit cash out button they would have to turn key to clear. I even showed them how to do it. Pretty simple. When they hit for 1800 credits and it was doing the ding ding adding credits, they thought it was a Jackpot and turned the key while credits were adding up. I have all the other settings maxed out to be able to rack up credits. Apparently IGT knew none of the tech's would turn the key during a win, it locked up. Sat there with coins played flashing like it was ready for play but BVD would not come on and with no coin equipment it could not play another game. I did a clear and set all the option's again then turned on bvd and set denom. All back to normal. Another one for the record book

You could also pull the wire from the cash/credit button to avoid this situation.
