Title: Double Diamonds S+ Bet One Credit
Post by: diskmonger on September 02, 2020, 12:30:39 PM
I have an earlier model Double Diamonds S+ machine, everything works great for the most part but I have one thing that always annoyed me.  If I push the "Bet one Credit" button, it registers the 1 credit, but then after about a second it bumps the bet credit up to 2 and then 3.  If I am quick after hitting "Bet one Credit" button and hit the "Spin Reels" button right away it will actually spin with just the one credit.

Is this an option somewhere in the game settings or do I maybe have some kind of weird sticky credit button?

Not a setting that I'm aware of. Do you also have a max bet button?  Does it work the same way?

I have a "Play 3 Credits" button that seems to work just fine, it's just the "1 credit" button that seems to force the machine to do 3 credits.  I created this short youtube video to demonstrate the behavior:

Did you look at the button wiring. Behaves like a short.

Has it always done this? Or something new? Seems like it is wired wrong if it always did it

It's always been this way as far as I know.  I swapped the "Bet one Credit" switch out with the switch from the "Cash Out" button and the behavior is the same.  I'm attaching a picture showing the wiring, the very far left is the "Bet One Credit" button, followed by the "Cash Out" button, then on the very right is the "Change" button.  The wiring seems to be the same between both buttons.

I am not sure this will help, but my S+ will add max credits if you hold down the "bet one credit" button.  I could be the the switch on your button is sticking.  When you changed out the button, did you change out the switch.  I would try another switch.
Hope it helps.

pull off the wires from the button......feed them out the belly door and momentarily touch them together to see if it does one credit or multiple.

Great idea on just touching the wires together, just tried this and it does only put on 1 credit in.  I tried a different switch from a working button and it still adds the 3 credits, so I'm going to assume I have some kind of "sticky" button situation.

A few years back I tried to replace some of the buttons but they were just slightly too big for the holes, these were off of ebay.  They were advertised as S-Plus buttons but didn't fit, I'm not sure if I have different button sizes because I have an earlier model S-Plus or what.  Anyone have any suggestions for buttons that will fit my machine?

Did you try just replacing the actual switch in the assembly with the one you bought (the little black box with the 3 contacts on it)

Unfortunately I don't have them anymore

Can you swap it with the one from the Bet-3 or spin button ?
I would normally suggest the cash out button but you said you swapped buttons and it does the same.

Yeah, I've tried swapping a bunch of different switches putting them inside that same button and it behaves the same, that is why I was thinking there is something funky with the actual button itself.  I suppose I could try swapping the Cash Out button with the Bet One Credit button just to see how that behaves, I will give that a try and report back.

I'm only vaguely remembering this from a similar situation years ago, but are you sure your wires are on the right contacts on the microswitch? They should be connected to the C and NO posts on the switch, I believe. If I'm looking at your behind-the-door picture correctly, I believe that may in fact be the issue -- it appears you have it wired incorrectly to C and NC.

If wired correctly, and since your test of touching the wires together was successful, can you try just triggering the microswitch with your finger rather than the full button assembly and see if it works as expected or not? That should help confirm if the issue is in the microswitch or the push button assembly.

That was it!  The switch wasn't wired correctly - working like a charm now.  Thanks again to everyone for all the help and suggestions.
