Title: Kairos v2 Flashtool via eBay
Post by: peasoup49 on September 12, 2020, 04:28:05 PM
Has anyone recently purchase this on eBay? I took a bite out of my keyboard today and laid down the almost $600 (including $50 in taxes, must because I'm in Commifornia?) for the unit. Delivery time says Oct 3-Nov 4. Does it really take up to 7 weeks to arrive? :hissyfit: :fryingpan:  Is it coming on a cargo ship or a row boat from Europe? How long did yours take to get to the states?

Thanks,
Steve

Every eBay listing must tell you where the item is being shipped from. What does the listing say?

Current listing says Riga, Latvia.

My experience with Sergey and Indra was A+
I have bought this programmer as well as many other slot supplies from them over the years.
Back when I made my purchases eBay didn't have to collect tax. But I paid more than todays price.
My packages arrived within 2 or 3 weeks.  If there are shipping delays I blame that on things getting hung up in customs.

As for instructions it is pretty straight forward.
Connect flashboard and then turn programmer on.
There isn't much you can do, read or write flash board.
It will indicate if your flash board is defective...

Its true as it turns out the unit is pretty simply to operate however, you would think for all the money you pay, some instructions (no matter how simple) would be included. To be fair there were some instructions however they did not work no matter how closely I followed them. The issue I had was with Installing unit initially. Finally after some time the folks that sold it to me were able to figure it out and got it working but not before I ended up with a few more bald patches on head. The issue was not loading driver like the seller thought (it loaded just fine) It was the Main Application was not being installed on Computer properly (windows 7). Once installed on computer it works great and is indeed a very nice unit. It is interesting to watch as it reads the flash board installed on unit then prompts you to save file.

Yeah, I got the Latvia one. Just got an email it was shipped today, so we'll see.  I figured it should be mostly Plug-n-Play, but I'm sure I could ask here if I'm totally stuck.

So it looks like the 2-3 week time frame. I can only hope there's a tailwind.  :Tongue_Out:

I've patiently waited for 35 days for my precious cargo to arrive. Before I burn my first board, does the Bootchip have to be removed first, then program? Or can it remain in place?

Thanks

I never removed and it all seemed to work ok. It took over 60 days for mine to arrive

Congrats.  Exercise extreme care handling the 044 flash cards, they're easily damaged by electrostatic discharge.  Handle them by the edges as much as possible and invest in a 3 dollar wrist strap to ground yourself with.
