Title: Red Jumper Wire for Diode Near Varta Battery on MPU

Hello. I bought an old untested MPU off eBay for cheap and I notice it it doesn’t have the red jumper wire on the diode near the varta battery. Is this something not all boards have? Is it something that should be added? I have a photo of my board and of the red jumper for reference. Sorry about picture quality. I’m at work and don't have clear photos to work with. Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it.  Sometimes improvements or fixes are made after a board goes into production with jumper wires or components.  The improvements eventually get rolled into the artwork for the board so jumpers are no longer necessary.  The board revision usually gets rolled then too.  For instance a Rev A board may have a jumper, but Rev B doesn't because it was integrated into the artwork in Rev B.

Well I took a closer look at it and it appears to be a 504b.

504 Rev B as far as I know was one of the last ones before they went to the 1270 enhanced MPU.  That one is coveted for it's sound upgrades that eliminated background hiss and noise in earlier versions.  It was particularly bad when combined with backlit reels. You wouldn't notice it in a noisy casino with other machines running and  making noise, but sure could at home when it was by itself. Take good care of it!
