Title: reel error when uses reel strips
Post by: pablovsky on November 17, 2020, 06:31:10 AM

Hi.
I am repairing an S-Plus IGT machine and something happens to me that has never happened to me before.
The reels work well, but only if they do not have the reel strips in place, is crazy, If I place them, it shows a reel error, nothing is touching the reel, it spin freely.
i am lost, any help?

on NewLifeGames facebook web i have posted some videos

It could be a weak reel and the strips just put it over the top.
41, 42, 43 correspond to the reel (1,2,3) with the error.

Is it always the same reel ?
You can move the reels around they just slide out of the tray, does the error move with the reel ? or stay the same.

If it stays the same then it could be the MPU board.
Take a look at the MPU board in the top corner there is a set of 5 resistors. Two will look pristine and the other 3 will have some burn/age marks (this is because you have a 3 reel machine and not a 5 reel).
On the premise that reel 2 is the one with the issue is resistor 2 burnt more than the rest. You can take #4 or #5 and solder them at reel 2

If the problem moves with the reel then I would look at the reel mech and make sure it hasn't gathered any lint or gunk.

I viewed you video,  are you using the same reels with or without strips?  looks like you have a set of reels with the strips on them  sitting up in the top box,  I have seen this problem before, it turned out to be one reel had a broken flag cutout.  the cutouts are the  plastic tabs that go between the reel optics as the reel turns, this is how the reel unit know where it is during the rotation.  check the tabs between a good reel and the suspect reels.

Hope this helps

yes, i have 2 pairs of reels, at the begining i thougt it was a bad reel problem, and i have changed the 3 reels, but the problem still.
i can play de game, insert coin and spin reels, everything great, but with no strips on reels, i turn the machine of and add a strip, gentely on a reel and when turn the machine on, ERROR!  :banghead:
the problem moves withe the strip, if i put the strip the goes fail. if you see the videdo whith no strips, works fine the next was a picture whith 1 strip, the reels it was spining well why the 41 error?

i have 6 reels, it can't be broke all of them  :EmoticonHelp4:

Is it always 41 ??

That is the first reel. Check out the resistors on the MPU

Is it always 41 ??

no, it is according to where you put the strip, in the case of the photograph it is reel 1

tomorrow i will try with a diferent strip, from a bally an example and i will chek the resistors.

Reel strips are NOT the same width between different platforms of machines.
They are micrometers of a difference in size.
A wider strip will distort the reel basket and also make the reel optic tabs/flags hit against the slot for the reel optics because the reel spokes are pushed away from their normal position.
It's also possible the reel glass display is slightly loose causing it to touch against the edge of a reel basket rim.

I would concur - if the problem moves with the strip then its not the resistors....
