Just picked up a S Plus Double Diamond and it accepts quarters & plays fine but the bill acceptor is not cycling and the yellow insert bills bezel is flashing. I unplugged the silver power supply on the left side of the bill acceptor and it seems to be getting power because I saw a small arc when I plugged it up. This machine has a WBA in it instead of a JCM. Could it be that I just need to use a set denom chip to enable it?

Who do you think makes WBA's? :scratch-head_3:
-
Not sure, just thought it was important to mention the type that's in this particular machine. All of the S Plus machines I've ever had in the past had the older JCM types in them

You should know by now that you're not supposed to plug in stuff with the power on.
You'll be lucky if the bill acceptor or interface board in the transport isn't toast. :burningresistor:
The manufacturers of WBA bill validators is a company called "Japan Cash Machine".... the long name for JCM.
Stick in a SET chip and re-enable the bill validator. turn OFF the machine, put back in the regular chip THEN turn the power on.

How are you making out? Have you verified that the acceptor is enabled? I think it's 9-1 in the self test menus. I'd start with that.
-
How do I get into the self test menu? It's been awhile since I had to do that
-
I have a set 15 & a set 90 chip if needed, I'm guessing I would need to clear the credits to zero first before I try the set chip?

Do I need to use the set 15 or the set 90?

This will walk you through it:

Depends on what chips you are using.
The Program Summary Report will tell you which SET chip to use.
All you told us is that you have a Double Diamond with a JCM WBA bill validator and you have two SET chips.
Remember, the more you tell us - the better we can help you.
-
Sorry, I'll pull the board & get those.
-
Here is what's on this board
-
Always try a 15. If it doesn't work then let us know.
-
okay use the SET 015 and follow the instructions in the link I gave you in Reply #7....it's actually on the home page of NLG.
It's basically this...>>>
If after a game change your bill validator does not work, then go ahead and remove the system tray where the game and reel chips reside. You will need to substitute the GAME chip with the Set chip.
Then replace the system tray and power on the machine (do no put the hopper back at this point as you will only have to remove it again).
If everything is ok, when the machine powers up you should see a 0 in the coins played window.
Press the reset button once and you will see a 9 0 in the credit window. Press the spin reels button to change this to a 9 1.
This enables your bill validator. Press the reset button again and the credit window will display a 0.
Press spin reels and step through the denomination you want.
They will go in this sequence 5, 25, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 10000 (.05, .25, .50, 1.00, 5.00, 10.00, and 100.00). Press the reset button when you have the right denomination.
When the coins played window shows 0 and nothing else is displayed, power off your machine.
Remove the set chip and replace the game chip. Put the tray back, hopper back, and close up.
Power up the machine, it will display a 61 on the winner paid window, press the reset button, it will change to 61-1.
Close door turn the reset key, and the 61-1 will clear. Insert bills and spin the reels!!!

Set15 always works :I_agree_1:
-
Thanks guys, I'll try that now
-
Set15 always works :I_agree_1:
That's true for me. I never had any S+ not enable a BV with a 15.
-
Just did the set 15 procedure, the bill validator was already enabled as 9-1, I set it to .25 anyway, powered the machine down, swapped those 2 chips back, powered back on & did the 61-1 procedure & closed the door. The bill acceptor is still not cycling & the insert Bill's bezel is still flashing. So probably the bill acceptor power supply could be bad?
-
Did you turn the jp key after you closed the door?
-
The DBV doesn't even need an MPU in the machine to cycle when powered up.
Told ya in Reply #3...you probably toasted everything when you saw sparks. :burningresistor:
Go ahead and plug more stuff with the power on. :fuel_on_fire:
Better get your wallet ready. :money: :money:
Change out the power supply and bill validator.
-
I did
-
okay...your DBV 200 has to have at least the right I.D. protocol 022/023 like this in this picture I just took of my DBV for you.
Needs a 15A power supply
Click on photo to enlarge if needed...>>>
-
Does your validator powersupply have vents ?
DBV 145 had no vents, the power supply looked exactly the same as the one for the DBV200. The difference being small airvents.
The one for the 145 had insufficient power (Amps) to reliably work with new validators and needed to be changed.
Some vendors (no names) didn't go to the trouble to change power supplies when they put in the new validators. Subsequently they didn't work reliably or sometimes at all.
DBV=Dollar Bill Validator, WBA = World Bill Acceptor.
The power plug is the same.

Ok I had a little success this morning, I had another bill transport that matches the slide in plug on this machine so I put the chip that's in the bottom of the transport that's not working and put it into the bottom of this one. Now it cycles and the yellow bezel light comes on & stays on like it should. I've tried to insert a dollar bill in all 4 directions and it will pull it all the way in and then send it back out every time
I opened up the head & cleaned the readers inside with a slightly damp cloth & wiped them dry, thinking they may be dirty but it's still taking a bill in & sending it back out. Anything else I can try?
-
$1 are the most readily accepted. I would work with that first.
Next check the dip switches. You need to be set to the right protocol.
some jurisdictions turn off certain bills due to fraud. This is a longer shot.
Colored newer bills may also be rejected based on the age of the chip.
-
I'm trying just regular single dollar Bill's, it pulls them in & sends them back out every time though
-
Since this came from another machine is the protocol set correct ?
-
Not sure about the protocol but I'm using a different bill transport but put the chip from the non working transport in this one and I'm using the same head. Can you not swap the transports and just use the original chip in the bottom or would that cause the problem I'm having now with it taking in the bill & sending it back out?
-
Maybe try cleaning the optical eyes?
Sounds like it's not reading the bill correctly.
What Version is the chip you're using?
Is the label gone?
Can you read the chip with a programmer?
-
Unfortunately the label is gone & been replaced with a new $10 decal so I don't know what chip is in the transport
-
All of the dip switches on the transport are set to off position
-
These are the numbers on the 2 transports I have that I can use, not sure the numbers on the transports will matter since there is no number on my chip in the bottom of the transport
-
2nd transport
-
Use 2nd transport id023, 1st is - id003 (bally)
Try a 10 or 20 dollar bill. NJ likes to disable $1 bills.
-
Man I hope that works, thanks I'll try that in the morning
-
I tried that and it's still taking the 20.00 bill in & sending it back out after about second. Let me ask this. It may be better to just buy another complete WBA unit for this game. I'll post a WTB in the classifieds section.
-
I think a read a post before a out a chip you can get for your S Plus machine what will give you 50 or more credits for every quarter you insert? Anyone know who has those available?
-
Did you check the credit/hopper and BV limits?
-
Everything is working great now, purchased another updated bill acceptor from a member here and now it works great, thanks for all the help guys
