Title: Cg1 and cg2 on a 44 board
Post by: Myfairlady on December 21, 2020, 11:39:04 AM
Hi. Are cg1 and cg2 to be inserted in Audio 1 and audio 2 spaces ? If not where are they supposed to be put? Thank you

Need pics of what you are talking about.  044 boards have neither.  Do you have an adapter board on a 044 board to use 3209 games?  Never put sounds chips in cgf sockets or vice versa.

The original game is Alien. It has an enhanced board.

Picture filesizes must be under 1MB to post.  Resize as necessary to get it under that.

From what you've said so for it sounds like you have an 044 board with a legacy adapter board to put the Alien game on?  Problem is Alien doesn't have CG1 or CG2 EPROMs, it has an 8MB CGF SIMM card.  It sounds like maybe your software set is mismatched?  Try to repost pictures of the MPU board and the software set you're trying to install with pictures clear enough that we can see the numbers on the chips if they have any.

To make thing clearer I should have asked if it was possible to use 039 poker set chips on a 044 enhanced board.

Sorry I misread your post.  To answer your question though, yes you can run 3902 poker sets on a 044 MPU with a legacy adapter board.  The legacy adapter board supports older all EPROM based games as well as EPROM and SIMM games.

If you wish to install software that uses CG proms, remove the current software & install them here. The sockets are marked CG1 & CG2.

Also, I remember a slot guru that is no longer with us (BlueRidge) that international versions of the software will not work in a legacy board. If that is a problem you are experiencing.

Hi. Thank you. Do you have these keys? Or anyone else ? I put the poker games on the 44 board trying m’y luck with a key 17 , although I knew it would not work. It DiD not work. Only a black screen. Same result when I put the original Alien Sims and Chips: black screen.  Let’s hope I did not fry anything.

The picture you posted shows the edge of the CGF card. Why are you wanting to put chips in there?

I think I need a key 40

I think I need a key 40

Key 40 should do the trick. Honestly I would just buy a 044 flash board with GK 6.x or Superstar Poker since you already have the 044
MPU. You get a much better variety of games with better graphics & sound. I don't have any available right now but I believe sixcardmark
does. I do have a Key 40 if you want one. PM me if interested.

What could fry when I used the key 17 on this board?

When you say black. Is that the same black as when the machine is turned off?

Update.   The black screen meant it was dead, or kind of. The small green light is on but no image. I swapped with another monitor and could key chipped the 0044 board with a Key 40 ( thanks R!) . No more Alien game but a Gameking set of games.   Discussion closed. Thanks for your suggestions and help. 🙏👍🏻💋

 :cool_thumb_up:

Glad to hear that! What kind of monitor did you have that is dead? Ceronix LCDs have a jumper that needs to be moved for 044 or 3902 but I realize it was working before with the Alien software.

It’s a Kortek flat screen monitor. I looked for a blown fuse but couldn’t find any fuse at all. This monitor can certainly be fixed. I have to take a look at the forums dedicated to that.
