Title: Bettor TITO and WBA-13
Post by: gameking6 on April 22, 2021, 11:42:29 PM
I just installed a Bettor TITO in my sisters GameKing with a WBA-13 bill validator. It reads cash (all denominations) flawlessly, but with the TITO tickets it takes between 2-5 attempts before it will accept the ticket. The printing on the tickets is really sharp. I cleaned the validator head and calibrated it (home-made calibration sheet). Jim at bettorslots mentioned that the Bettor TITO has better luck with other validators. The other options are pretty pricey so, I'm thinking of picking up another validator head and try that (if I can find a good price (why do people charge so much for shipping?)) My question is: Are others using Bettor TITO (or even other brands) with the WBA-13 validators? They seemed to work for years in the casinos. Thanks for any help

I have WBA's on about 8 of my machines, they all work fine with Bettor Tito.  Maybe your home made calibration paper is not quite up to snuff?  Also, have you tried replacing the rubber gaskets on the head that provide the friction that pulls the bills in.  The bills are a bit more "grippy" than the tickets, so there may be a little slippage pulling tickets also.

I've also had problems with tickets but found out it was some older ticket paper that was pretty slick compared to new paper i have.

The calibration was successful according to the manual (bezel light blinking fast), and the paper is new. I believe this answers the question The WBA-13 CAN work. Does anyone know a reasonable source for WBA-13 parts?

You are not going to get an error for the calibration procedure.  It just calibrates what white and black should be (the white and black paper are used as a reference point).  You could put green and red paper and it would not give you an error, but it won't take bills or anything if you do that though until you calibrate with the right paper colors.  The gaskets you can get at home depot.  Just remove one from your validator and take it to home depot as a sample to get the right size  As they get old, they get stiff and don't pull things in at the correct speed along with the others.

I understand the calibration won't give an error if it wasn't successful,  however, according to the instructions if it was successful it will carry the paper forward and reverse several times and when complete it will eject the paper. Then after a couple minutes the bezel will blink rapidly to show it has accepted the calibration. My unit did all of this and went from needing to insert the ticket 7 or 8 times to 2 to 5 times. So the calibration definitely did something. I'll try the gaskets next time I visit my sister.

If the o-rings are old they are hard and slick, or cracked, or worn flat. Any of these conditions will cause issues with the accuracy of the scanning . Barcodes I believe are more sensitive than bills?   Also you could have dirty lens on the inside of the lens . Dust and smoke. Disassemble  and clean the lens with q-tips.
