Title: No sound BB3 CPU
Post by: arivera18 on April 24, 2021, 11:19:55 AM
Is there a part of a bb3 cpu that could be change to fix a no sound issue ?
If I switch the cpu for another bb3 cpu the machine works fine however when I install this specific cpu I don’t get sound .
Any help would be appreciated.

You may have cold solder on the RCA connection (SPDIF) causing the issue, or some other damage to the spdif circuit (I don't know how to fix the later).  I have a couple of MPU's that have that problem.  I just wire the analog audio for those, from the backplane to the amp while disconnecting the digital rca cable.  If you are using it on a bb2 cabinet, the analog harness should already be wired, probably just disconnected.  For blade cabinets, you have to make an audio cable to connect to the amp from the backplane.

I know this is an old post, but I have the problem that I want to run a game on my blade that has analog sound. Since you write here "you have to make an audio cable to connect to the amp from the backplane" to my question, how does it look like and how should it be done? Do you have a diagram?

There's a now a documented fix for the audio issue (there is a thread with clear photos on what to do).  It involves soldering some wires to reconnect the internal broken traces.  Usually a 2 wire job and doesn't take long if you have decent soldering skills.  The analog cable conversion might not work on a blade as the amp does not seem to have analog inputs if I remember correctly.

I’ve done this solder job with the jumper wires on my backup NXT 3.2.  Works great!

Thanks,
Jason

Is there a way to convert the Blade so that analog music is also possible? I am trying to run the game Elvis Shake Rattling Reels on the Blade, unfortunately I have no sound, everything else would work. Therefore the assumption that it is the sound signal.
