Title: Solved: Intermediate S+ Spin Reels and Bet 3 Credits Buttons Weird Issue
Post by: DB26 on May 18, 2021, 07:59:57 PM
Hello everyone. I Have a Double Diamond Deluxe from 1992. It is in the intermediate cabinet, has no bill validator, but it is an S+

The “spin reels” and “play 3 credits” buttons don’t do anything during game play, but the “play 3 credits” button does register when in test mode. “Spin reels” I have not been able to find the test for.

I have a video showing some of this:

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=f_WjJwqdNNc#)

Also, when doing the output tests. The “Spin Reels” button doesn’t seem to activate anything. Although certain things automatically activate when in output test mode. Like the coin diverter and the hopper.

For example, when doing the hopper test, the hopper will automatically start dispensing coins. The hopper will not stop unless I pull and hold down the slot handle. When I let go of the slot handle the hopper continues to dispense until I close the door. During game play the hopper works correctly and dispenses the proper amount.

The same even also happens when I test the diverter. It will switch positions when the slot handle is pulled and held down. Turns back the other way when slot handle is released.

Sounds to me like some of the wires are hooked up incorrectly, especially with the pull handle switch and the spin reels button. It seems like the Spin Reels button is constantly being activated (hence why the hopper test starts dispensing coins immediately).
Anyonee else agree?

Sounds like the wiring is wrong to me.

If the hopper runs in test mode immediately sounds like the spin button is depressed (active already - all the time)
Would even explain why the spin reels test can't be found - the button is active all time so when in the test mode and you are supposed to press the spin button to change or advance option, it is already on/active the test mode just does what it is programmed to do when the spin button is pressed.

The play 3 credits button changes - probably changes from a 1 to 0 when pressed (backwards - should go from 0 to 1) - because it sounds like when the handle is pulled and the handle switch activates it opens the 'spin' circuit and stops the hopper from dispensing coins, then you let go and it springs back and the hopper probably starts dispensing coins again until door is shut.  (same reasoning for the diverter)

Looks like some button work was done and the wires got put back on the spin switch on the wrong connections. Check the prints and the wire colors, and be sure the spin switch is wired correctly - NO, NC and C terminals. Plenty of posts around to explain which wire goes to which terminal/connection here in the forum, I'm not going to duplicate that now.

the intermediate slot and full size are the same machine electronically. only the cabinet was smaller, made for ships, so they could get more in the same space.

all the wiring is identical to any S+ machine, the spin button and handle switch are in parallel!

all the common wires are solid green, the control wires are yellow with their respective tracer color,  the lamp wiring is solid blue for common, blue with tracer for each function.

spin button is solid green on the common, yellow/brown on the n.o.

bet max is  solid green on the common,  yellow/blue on the n.o.

handle is green on common, yellow/black on n.o.

hope this helps

Jim

Thank you everyone! This information will help tremendously. I appreciate the wire color call-outs Jim. You’re a life saver.  I will do some more wire chasing this weekend. And I will post my findings.

I’ll also make a video of the hopper test going on it’s own. I wanted to record that yesterday but it slipped my mind.

Welp, I figured it out. The switch on the pull handle was wired backwards. Basically always on. That was my issue, it now works great! Check out my video:

Thank you for your help everyone!
