My bb2 machine (ruby slippers) has a monitor issue. After turning on, everything seems to cycle correctly, the validator, the Tito, fans go on, but monitors do not. I have checked the power at the monitor power supply strap going into the monitor and it reads 23/24 volts. Is this the correct voltage? Does anyone have any ideas as to what can be wrong? So far I have replaced the video card and power supply, and monitors.
-
Do the monitors show a no signal message? Can you test the monitors with a laptop? If they work, I would look at the mpu.
-
This happened to me once....>>>
Had amber LEDs showing on top of LCD's instead of solid green.
So I unplugged/re-plugged the video connector from the back of the monitors and they both came back on...worth a try?
-
monitor LEDs do not turn on, neither do the fans. almost as if they have no power. I noticed the connector has a sticker that shows 12v dc. Is this inverted internally? cause the current shown on my multimeter shows 24v. I already also tried unplugging cables and plugging again. :-(

There should be 12v and 24 volts. Have a look at the top right of the backplane and look at the leds. Each of the leds show the power status of each rail 5v, 12v, 24v and 3.3 volts. Are they all on?
-
YES, all lights are green.
-
Sounds like a video card issue then
-
So Video Card is new. installed a couple weeks ago thinking it was that. Last thing i did last night was.......i connected my PC monitor to the vga cable coming from mpu, and i got the screen to show. So it seems now that it is the monitors (both) and not the system? Or perhaps the power to the monitors somehow?
-
Try this: Go to your setup menu and
-
kayjay setup menu and........?
-
If you don't have video then you can't go to the setup menu. Are you sure the CPU is locked down securely?
-
YES i removed CPU and put back in. I think if it was video card then i wouldnt get image when i connected a regular pc monitor.
-
So cable from the machine to a PC monitor provides and image. If no indicator lights on in the monitors then only thing left is power to them. Should be a 4 pin power connection with both 12 and 24 volts, other 2 are ground
-
idesign that is correct. Cable from MPU to a pc monitor provides image! I will replace fuses again and see if that works. My only concern was that according to multimeter current is 24v. and monitor has a 12v sticker as input current. I imagine that the monitor somehow converts the 24v to 12v?
-
If you have a 4 pin connector on the cable check for ground on 2 of them and 12v and 24v. Are you saying you have 24V on both pins? What brand monitors are in that machine?
-
@idesign i need to check that. I didnt realize that it carried both 12 and 24v. Let me see.
-
Okay, so I checked and other than the 2 ground wires there is only 24v not 12v. Where does the wire get the 12v from?
-
Power is at the backplane, trace it. Is 12V power light lite on the backplane?
-
Sorry, I didn

Finally RESOLVED!!!!! :dancing_2: Followed wiring all the way to power supply. At P5 connection there was a black wire that was burnt and disconnected. Since it was in the middle of the bundle it was hard to notice when I had previously disconnected and connected everything. I repaired the burned wire and screens fired right up! So in the end, It was a ground connection. :24:
