Title: Does it exist large 1$ Coin mech for Bally em
Post by: SPN on August 07, 2021, 03:36:39 PM
I wanna change one of my Bally em machines to accept large 1$ Eisenhower / casino tokens and wonder if it exist and where to find a kit with all the parts I need?

I already have igt machines that use large 1$ Casino tokens and I think I have around 3000 of them so It would be cool to have a Bally em machine that also accept that size of coins :)

 :thank_you:

The dollar coin mech for an EM can be found at www.slotmachinereopair.com (http://www.slotmachinereopair.com) under "coin handling".

Thanks :)

I’m restoring my hopper from scratch and I also wonder if this kind of hopper disc works for large 1$ tokens (see picture)

I’ve seen different kind of discs, another kind is an two part discs where you can change the shelf shell for different sizes coins but mine i must change the whole disc since I can’t split it, so I wonder if both types are made for large 1$ Coin/tokens?

So far I have found the 1$ one piece pinwheel, the 1$ coin acceptor, and the 1$ coin drop casting.
I am still looking for the coin acceptor mounting bracket and trying to determine what kind of coin chute is needed.

Wow that is so cool and I really looking forward to install it to my restoration project!

I guess the coin acceptor mounting bracket looks different and a regular can’t be modified or?

Thanks for helping me with this project and don’t feel any stress and just take your time and let me know if you have all the part, and if not I still wanna buy the parts you have 😌

it also depends on the model of the machine.

take a look at the 2400 manual (https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/bally_manuals).

typically coin diameter changes can affect:

- coin entry
- coin slide (connects the entry to the mech)
- coin mech
- coin lockout armature
- coin guide (keeps coin centered on coin switch tripwire)
- coin guide spacer - not used on coins over 1.1" in diameter
- external trim plate above coin tray - may be able to modify existing one
- if old style sand cast door frame, you need to modify the frame for a larger coin to go thru
- hopper disc/pinwheel
- hopper coin track (coin rolls on it after coming off pinwheel)
- belly glass or denomination label

changing the entire coin mech frame would take care of the lockout armature and coin guide.  You can do that or replace the two pieces.

if you can find a cheap 50 cent or $1 machine, you may be better off buying it, swapping parts, and selling it.

I was thinking of the 903 machine I’m restoring, I also have other kinds of games that looks pretty similar, I expect some modification and a challenge to make it work but that a part of this hobby I guess 🤣

I guess since I live in Norway it’s hard to find a 50c or 1$ Slot machine but if I find one I probably buy it anyway, hehe

A dollar belly glass would be nice if it exist out there 😍

Thanks for the list it’s good to know that it’s not that easy to make it work!

I guess translate 50c or $1 machine to any coin that is a big enough diameter :-)

while the mech has to match the coin/token exactly, the other parts are all mostly "small coin" vs. "big coin".  The pinwheels and coin track may have more variations, but usually they can be made to work as long as the coin fits between the pins.

Dollar EM machines are not that available in the US and don’t seem to be popular.
Mainly because of the coins not being used in circulation compared to nickels and quarters.
The most desirable is the quarter EM machines.
Just my 2 cents worth, as options if you can’t locate the parts your are looking for.

I’m a coin and casino token collector as well and when you win on one of my 1$ tokens machines you also get a piece of history and I think many of them starting to get pretty rare too..

I also buy 1$ tokens if anyone have for sale 💰💰💰

I also have plenty of parts that accepting smaller coins do that I don’t need thank you 😊

I have some if these I could part with.  Someone on eBay is selling one or some,  maybe they are rare. I posted on Ebay too, mostly to see what came up. Maybe not that rare, search eBay for 'dollar pewter' you will see a listing that looks reasonable.

I posted here about them -

Send me a PM if you are interested. Let me know what you are willing to offer plus shipping.

Tony

PS: I'm not expecting that crazy price per coin.

Those token will not work on my machine since they are made of brass I think, I have some of them and they don’t work with my silver/metal tokens

But thanks for asking :)
