Hi all
I have a cleopatra 5 reel with enhanced sound that just stopped working for no reason. Any ideas?
Thank you
-
Did you do any battery replacement on the MPU recently. Or was it working fine and it just stopped?
Do you have any sound at all?
-
I see no errors in the VFD. It has credits. Buttons are lit up. BV is lit up. If you press max bet or pull handle it does not work?
-
Hi. Nothing has been recently done to the game the sound just stopped working. The game still plays fine but there is no sound at all. Ive had this several years and the sound worked fine
Thanks

Happened to me once....I had to swap out the amp in the topbox.
-
Ok I'll check that out
Thanks
Al

Sorry. Misread your post.
-
No worries !!
Thanks!

Hi So I opened the top box and do see anything that could be an Amp. I tried to follow the wires from the speakers but can't seem to find where they go to.
Can you check out my pictures and let me know where the Amp is?
Thanks!!
-
You have a very early s2000 with mono sound? Doesn't appear to have an amp. May have been a vision at one time.
-
I guess...? You probably know better than I do. I always assumed it was stereo since it is set to stereo in the settings and there are two speakers.
-
So if not an Amp.. any ideas on what would make the sound stop working?

Check the harness running to top box under where the speakers are plugged into. Make sure it is still plugged into the backplane. Could also be the MMLII sound board the sound simm is plugged into, or the sound simm itself. Try reseating them both.
-
This shows the mother board. The lower right is the 6 pin sound plug in picture. Bad board, but good reference
-
Hi all. So I checked all plugs from speakers to the motherboard. I unplugged and plugged them back in. No sound still. I ordered and replaced the MML board and also the dimm board. Still no sound. Any ideas what else to check? Help I love this game!
Thanks

Go into operator menus with the lil white test button and check and see if the MPU is "seeing" the multimedia card under
>>> [3] OPTIONS
>>>[3.2] Sound Options
>>>[3.2.6] Multimedia Option
This menu allows the operator to configure the machine for specific
multimedia options if a Multimedia Lite board is installed.
If you see [3.2.6], then the machine "sees" your multimedia MML card that has the DSV SIMM audio card installed on it.
If you DON"T see [3.2.6], then the machine isn't picking up your MML card....that would mean something could be shot on the MML card.
Usually, replacing that large capacitor on the MML audio board kicks things back in order...not a guaranteed fix by any means tho.
-
Hi
Yes the multimedia options are there
Thanks
-
Well...that's good.
Only other thing I can think of, since you do NOT have an amplifier board, is to look for a break in continuity in the green and white speaker wiring with a multi meter...from one end to the other.
It's possible somehow a wire broke.
Unplug and re-plug all speaker Molex connectors....look for pushed back pins :sherlock: in the connector housings that would miss contact with the corresponding pins?
It could be somehow something physical out of whack rather than a software based problem...that's why SCM suggested "reseating" stuff.
Wiggle speaker wiring connectors around while hitting the play/spin button trying to produce sound....you will find out what's possibly busted.
-
Ok. I'll go through it and see what happens
Thanks

I think your down to the last two things.
The motherboard or the MPU.
Do you have another MPU you could try since the motherboard is kind of a pain in the ass to change.
-
Hi I don't have another mpu to try unfortunately. That mother board does look difficult to change.
Which is more likely the culprit?
I checked all the connections from the speakers to it and they seem fine
Thanks

Hi all
I know it's been awhile but would like to revisit this machine as I feel I have tried everything. Checked all wiring, replaced sound summ card, replaced mml board, replaced mother/backplane board. The only thing I think left is the MPU board.. could the MPU cause all sounds to suddenly stop working, but the game still functions fine?
-
Is it a regular S2000 or a Reel touch? If regular S2000 in the top box is the sound amp, top right side
-
Hi I'm assuming a reel touch as there isn't a sound amp
-
Regular S2000. Do the speaker wires run all the way down to the MB?
-
Yes
-
It's an early S2000 no Reel Touch.
Unfortunately I believe you are down to the mpu.
Contact member Lookes, he can probably repair it for you.
-
Ok thank you ! I'll trach out !
Alan
-
One other thing. Try running it without the MML2 board. See if it has legacy sound. Check volume setting as well.
-
Ok. I'll try it without the mml board..... thanks
Alan
-
Hi
I removed the mml card and checked the settings, volume etc. There is still no sound
Thanks
Al
-
Hi all
Just received the replacement MPU board installed it and everything work but still no sound.
Rechecked all settings and wiring again... I just don't know what else ti try.
Thanks for your help

Did you run the sound tests to see if the speakers are shot?
I'd install an amplifier in the topbox.
