Title: Gold Mountain Haywire Action

Wanted to switch it up a bit so in reading Rick's FAQ's I see I can change to Haywire action. Question is do I need to change the game to a type 2 (such as SP1274) or can I use the exsisting SP1160 (type 0/1/4/5) game chip that I have in it now?

Much appreciated!! Is it necessary to clear the memory before changing the SP chip out? Its a 3coin set up @.25. I have no intention of changing the denom.

You do not need to do a RAM clear, however you will likely need to reactivate the bill validator after you change the SP chip.
