Ok I put a battery n, using key chip 22. I am wondering if I am using the wrong key chip… I don’t see any setting to disable the coins in but I keep getting a coin in error. I also notice b diagnostics I don’t see the correct buttons and can’t get any to light in auto cycle. I do have a pic of the screen….yes coin harness jumper is installed and I swapped around the I/O boards. Any ideas?

If the key 22 let you into the menu, then it's all good. There are different menus on those 3902 games so they all are not uniform but your hopper and comparitor need to be disabled. Here's some basic instructions. You may have to poke around to find what you are looking for.

Ya I am using that but it isn’t exact and has me scratching my head wondering what I’m missing….there is no coin mech but I’m still getting a coin in tilt. There is no disable function for the coin….just hopper and printer…..I do notice something called “spectrum” not connecting. I notice the lamp out doesn’t turn any lamps on of course maybe they are all long bad. I don’t know the history on this game. I’m thinking this game needs a different key chip. Any help would be great

You have to clear machine for that error, just keychip mode won't do it. Do you have a jumper on the CC harness? Spectrum is for setting up a progressive.
-
Yes there is a jumper plug on the cc. I am using key chip 22. Are you saying I need a different chip to clear?
-
Are you clearing machine or just going into keychip menu? It needs ram cleared. Key22 should be fine. EDIT: was thinking coin out jam. You shouldn't have to clear for coin in jam.

Make sure the BV is enabled and open and close the door a few times.

so.....i tried a key chip 40....same result....i have a game king 3092 board and i put that in, all worked fine so i know the cabinet hardware is fi8ne...i am starting to wonder if i have a chip mismatch on this board or i need a different key chip....i will post some chip pics from my phone...

Simm card numbers? C0000568? If it has c0000289, or c0000379, or c0000708, it may call for a different set of game and base chips
Note, psr shows key00017. key 22 should be fine though

Did you try this software on the other 3902 board? check for bent pins at the connectors..
Thanks,
Wayne

Like a69mopar said your game software uses Key 17. You can key 22 or 40, BUT you have to select all three menu items on the keychip menu (Clear RAM, Clear EEPROM, Perform Keychip). If you just select perform keychip it will just boot up normally.

Yup got it….I get a coin in error but don’t know what I’m doing with like the comm setups and there is no enable or disable for a coin mech so I don’t understand why it’s giving me a coin in error…..
-
Was it working normally prior to the battery change?
-
dunno......been in the warehouse over a year know nothing about its history. i check some more tomorrow

The MPU is probably bad then. Take a close careful look at U74 for any signs of damage (discoloration, bubble on top, cracks, etc). Remove the sound board and it's next to one of the connectors on the MPU board. It's easily damaged by removing (or) installing the MPU or I/O cards with the power on. Sometimes, but not always it shows physical signs of damage. Usually when it is bad you will have Coin-in jam and meter's disconnected errors, but again, not always. My bet is that it's bad even if you don't see any visible damage based on what you've done and not knowing the history of the MPU.
