Title: WMS BB2 - "Prepart DSS validation FAILED with al Keys. Halting.."
Post by: alfa75 on September 26, 2023, 03:19:05 AM
I have a problem with my WMS BB2, when I wanted to change the game after deleting I am stuck with the error message "Prepart DSS validation FAILED with al Keys. Halting...". I have tried different OS/game cards and so I assume the hard disk (picture attached)  is the problem. My question is how do I get a compatible harddisk and how does it need to be prepartitioned? Thanks!

The hard drive gets partitioned and formated during the initial install process, you don't have to do anything to it.  I've never had any compatibility issues with any hard drive on a bb2.  Prepart DSS validation failed is attached to the OS or clear card. Are you able to run a clear?

Just tried again, it also does not work with the Clear card.

This is the clear card that I have been using for a long time.

Did you stick it in a Windows-based computer?
That one is fairly new...made in 2013?
If I stick in just some other CF card, I get the same message as you...>>> "Prepart DSS validation FAILED with all Keys. Halting.."
I would suspect that your Ram Clear card somehow became corrupted.

The Ram Clear card I use is dated May 29th, 2007...well over 16 years old, and it's a only 64Mb sized memory compact flash card.
If I flip it around, I see that it was manufactured by "swissbit ".
I have another CF card, dated the same time, that was made by "SimpleTech".

Another possibility is that you may have inadvertently placed the card down near something magnetic?
That would definitely corrupt the data inside of a CF card.

No, I have never connected it to a Windows computer. I've been using the Clear card for about 2 1/2 years and haven't had any problems so far, until now.

Check the pins inside the mpu where the CF cards go into.  You may have bent pins.

Good hint, I will check this on the weekend.

You're right, there's a pin missing, the third from the right in the front right slot (OS), what can I do? is it possible to replace the entire CF Slot? If so, where can I get one of these and how can replace it?

I have no idea what your skills are doing circuit board repair but Digikey sells these...>>>

Some computer recycling places might have old desktops with compact flash sockets too?
Otherwise, you'd pretty much need to try to obtain another MPU.
