Title: door optic bypass
Post by: therockinelvis on November 29, 2014, 04:22:52 PM
On S2000 you use the red wire from door and the green wire from cabinet to the cherry switch and that's it??? Nothing with the other 2 wires? Is it the S+ where you splice the other 2 together?

Here's a link to the topic on the old site.  10 messages down there is a diagram that shows how to do it.  I printed it and find it very helpful.

That's all fine except where Bunker tells you to splice the purple and green wires together,  forget that step as they are not needed.

Run one wire from the door optic red with white stripe wire to the cherry switch, one wire from the green wire cabinet optic to the cherry switch and your done.

Yea Buzz, that's what I thought. I am helping a guy in New York by phone and email. He has that S2000 without a top box we all saw on EBay about being a Limousine machine. He can't get past the close the main door command. He changed the boards and someone told him to do a clear, but machine will not see door as closed. Sometimes it's hard to diagnose without seeing machine.

Did he try adjusting the optics ??

Place a mark on the door aligned with the door optic same thing with the cabinet optic. Close the door if the marks do not line up adjust the optic until they do

I have seen a few pictures of these "lowboy" type machines. Apparently he was on this forum and got advise although I can't find the posts from it. Machine currently shows "ram error" when he does all the key turning and button pushing then close door message that is where it stops.

I had emailed the guy  he knows the top was removed , that is not a lowboy  he,s trying to rip off some new slot buyer that don't know its missing a top unit and  payout glass

Does it need the top box to work? I was thinking it would work without it. If he gets it working he wants to keep it.

I see not reason why it wouldn't work without a topbox, but he is not going to get stereo sound since he won't have the speaker ears.

What color cabinet does he have? A top box may not be hard or expensive to find.

So he's look at around $100-125 to complete it. Don't know what he paid for the machine but that may be a good price in his area

He paid $100. for it. I saw the side speakers and guessed it had the sound board mounted inside. He has it listed for what he paid. Then he bought both circuit boards and replaced them. I feel bad for the guy. He had no idea what he was getting into. I'd give him 100 if he would meet me on the NJ Turnpike. 4 1/2 hour drive is out of the question. He is near Long Island NY, Still puzzled why the door optics don't bypass unless it is something else. He said he got boards from one of our vendors that were "tested" good. I've got the feeling it's the trace under that darn green battery.

Did you have him check and splice together the belly door switch? If it already has bin spliced, and does not work, then I would try to adjust or bypass the optics. If it still doesn't work and you have tried changing the MPU then I would try the backplane.

He replaced both MPU and backplane. I just found out he sold the machine to someone. So I guess it won't be long until it pops up here again.
