Title: UBA 10 spitting out bills
Post by: Parrothead96 on January 26, 2025, 03:16:08 PM
I have a triple butterfly sevens with UBA 10 installed. The unit cycles (sounds normal to me) and then lights up as if ready to accept a bill. But it takes the bill, waits a couple seconds, then spits it back out. There is a red light on the front that comes on, it looks like an eye to me. I cleaned the inside of the head but still have the same issue. Also swapped the head with a known working one and the red “eye” is still blinking. I have tried the bill every direction, done the auto-config, and also swapped out cash cans. No credits on the machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's just a message of probably multiple bill rejection from your WBA Sentry bezel.

Eye – RED
– Possible cheat attempt
– If eye lit only – multiple bill rejects in a short period of time

So would it be correct to say the red eye is a symptom of bill rejection, not the reason for the bill rejection? If that is the case I guess there is something else wrong with the unit. Will the red eye reset itself after a certain amount of time has passed or do I need to do something?

On IGT S2000's, the messages and errors are "stacked".
To erase them, you have to open and close the door a couple of times.
I don't know if that clears the WBA Sentry bezel errors & messages or not.
It's worth a try?
If the validator isn't accepting bills right now, disconnect the Sentry.
It was only a casino option for the machines. It's NOT needed for the validator to work.
I believe there's a black Molex plug on the back of it.
If bezel lights up after you re-close the door, see if the WBA will accept bills.
Later on. plug it back in.

A little history on the unit. Did it ever accept bills or has it been in this state since you've owned the machine. If memory serves the WBA 10 is used in the S+ era machine. It may have programming on it for that plarform.

Thanks for the suggestions - I will try the door latch and disconnecting the sentry when I get back!

I have not yet had this unit working  -  it came installed in an S2000 that I bought at auction. Also bought several other S2000's at the same auction that had WBA 10s installed that work fine, but certainly possible this one could have been programmed for S+ I suppose. Everything cycles like it should and lights up green after it cycles as though it would accept bills, but so far just spits them back out...

I just went go double check one of my WBA Sentry's.
I disconnected the 5-wire Black Molex near the back of the cash box that goes to the Sentry unit on the door.
It will have all green wires with various trace/stripe colors.
I looked at the Sentry on the door and the lights were out.
I closed the door and it accepted a $20 bill even though the bezel wasn't lit up.

I re-opened the door, plugged back together the harness, saw that there was a blue ambulance lit up on the Sentry bez.
I closed the door twice and the blue ambulance went out and the green "runway" lights came on indicating ready for bill acceptance.

Just got a chance to try this. First time, it worked like a charm. Disconnected and reconnected the sentry, and took a bill just as it should (although interestingly it did not take a bill while the sentry was unplugged - cycled once but did not even register the bill when I tried to insert). After the first one I tried another bill and it pulled it in as before, waited a second or two, then spit it back out. Went through the process of disconnecting and reconnecting the sentry a couple more times, but it only accepted a bill the very first time… think I need to replace the sentry altogether?

Yeah...You don't need it...get yourself a nice yellow bezel.
