Title: Payout Issue With Some Reel Positions
Post by: machogrande on February 07, 2015, 03:06:44 AM
My 1091 machine will only pay out when a reel combination doesn't involve a single BAR.

7-7-7 = PAY

BAR-BAR-BAR = NO PAY

BAR-2BAR-2BAR- NO PAY

2BAR-2BAR-2BAR : Pay

2BAR-3BAR-2BAR : PAY

3BAR-3BAR-3BAR : Pay :Scratch-Head:

This list isn't all-inclusive, but you get the idea. If it's a win as shown on the glass that doesn't involve a single bar, it pays. Anything else is a no-go. Doesn't matter what reel the single bar is on in a mixed-bar=win situation, so it's not isolated to a wiper, I don't think.

Any ideas?

You guys were a great help on my post regarding the coin switch, hoping for good luck on this one too!

Thank you in advance!

Do the amounts paid (when it pays) match the glass?

Could the reels be in the wrong spots? 1-3-2 etc.

Check your reels wiper contacts. I recently did a repair job for a customer the had a similar problem but it was the third reel.. Any combination that ended in a bar wouldn't payout. I found one contact on my third reels wiper that was not making contact to the wiper board. Once it was adjusted my payout problem was solved. So I would start by inspecting all 3 reels wiper contact to the wiper boards. If that's all fine, then check your reels beau plugs contacts. Male pins get bent or broken, and the female plugs tend to have there contact pushed out the back of the plugs.

You should have a bars match relay somewhere near the last reel board.  check it out see if it's working.  You should be able to push down on the coil armature to activate the switches with a pay on centerline.  Set up your nonpaying bars combo and try it.   Also, map out your reel boards--set up the symbols and use a sharpie to mark where they index at.  Make sure all your symbols match where they are supposed to be...

You can trace your 10 coin pay by first noting the wire color going to your payboard for the 10 coin pay. Then, find that same color wire on your reel mech plug, and use your ohm meter to trace the signal back through the reel boards (with single bars on centerline) to the last reel board and probably the grey wire.  If it is all working, you can meter it from the pay wire all the way through to the 90 wire on the plug, thus verifying a complete circuit through the reel mech.  It sounds like maybe someone changed out one of your reel wipers and forgot to make a notch in the copper foil, or to resolder a notch.  These notches btw, separate the boards into different levels, e.g. you don't want 6V bell signal mixing in with a 50V pay signal, so they are separated into isolated circuits by cutting the back of the wipers.
Interesting problem, make certain you keep us informed...
