Title: PAY OUT ODDS QUESTION???
Post by: RiseLikeRa on April 22, 2015, 10:32:03 AM
Group:

I am at the point where my wife is ready to give me my walking papers if I try to squeeze one more EM into the house.  However.... I have my eye on an 831 that seems pretty nice.  I have and 809 and two 873's.  I was given permission to buy one if I sell one.

I am thinking about selling one of my 873's and put in the 831 since I don't have one.  Interestingly enough my wife and my in-laws play the games more than I do.  They love the sound of the coins hitting the tray.

My question is how liberal is the 831 fruit compared to the 873 fruit?  I have an 831 for about a month about 5 years back.  It had a short, I fixed it and sold it in about a week.  I never really played it enough to see how it payed out.  I know that the 873 has the most frequent pays of any Bally EM.  The Arrow-line 883 has few pays but reportedly the richest pay scale of any Bally.  How does the 831 rank? :Scratch-Head:  I want it to be fun to play.

You'll probably have to calculate the odds based on your reel strips and payouts.  There are threads here somewhere on how to do that.
I have successfully modified several ballys for friends to have greater payouts and better odds.
I did one for Moe that had 3 switchable combinations of pays and you could select the odds basically.
It's not that hard to put in a mystery pay or two on a JPO machine....
With an on off switch, I once used the change button to act as the odds switch, that way you can change the odds from the outside, and no one has to know.
Takes a bit of added wiring, but not too hard.

Going multi-line is the way to go for more frequent pays, you get more action, but also means you could bet 5 coins and only get paid  1 or 2, so you have a winner on the spin, but a loosing bet.  It is the allure of the multi-line games, you get the feeling of winning, but you are actually loosing.

Thank you Reno. That sounds complicated.  Rick,  when I get the game I will spend some time with it and observe the payout frequency.  I will report back to the group with my results.

Well the 831 that I had my eye on was sold right under my nose.  A great NLG member got the game.  At least it went to a good home.

The search continues...
