Just picked up a double double diamond. Every win acts like a jackpot. Ding ding ding ding ding.......you get the picture. The guy I bought it from was going to put a bill acceptor in. I have it but I didn't put it in. Don't know if this is the problem.

The credit / jackpot limit is mostly likely set to 0 and that is causing a handpay for each win.

can you tell me how to set it so it does not keep dinging

Did you get what is called a SET chip with the machine? It is an eprom that you plug into the main system board (mpu board) and it runs a special program that allows you to enable the bill acceptor after you install it. If you didn't get one with the machine you will likely need to order one, they are not expensive.
They make a CLEAR chip also, they are not needed very often, you probably don't need to get one of those but can if you want to. It is used when you have a machine error and need to reset it back to factory defaults.
Someone else here more familiar with the S+ can tell you how to change the payout limit settings.

I have a few set chips from my other machines an IVC103 and a #15 from a haywire and a double diamond deluxe. if these will work can you walk me through the repair :drool04:

Here is a sticky note from the S+ forum that covers the popular settings most home users prefer. For this you don't use your SET chip. You use the built-in options program in the machine accessed with the white test button inside.

As mentioned earlier, the constant dinging on every win is not due to the bill acceptor not being installed. The machine is set to do what is called a "hand-pay" on any win, which is a nuisance. You can change that by using the White Test button inside the machine. Normally in a casino only larger jackpots are hand-pay, the smaller wins are either put to credits and paid from the hopper to your coin tray.
You will use the SET chip after you install the bill acceptor (bill validator) to tell the mpu board to enable it. I think the SET 015 you have will work ok. The IVC chip is a more powerful utility program that needs to be used carefully as it can alter many settings in the machine.

You won't need a SET chip to make the change. You can flip through the settings by turning the jackpot reset key. The trick is knowing which menu setting you need to change. I don't know them by heart, and each SP chip is set up a little different, so we need to get the PSR for your SP709. That will tells us what menu option you need to go to and change.

Press the self test switch button until the number 7 appears in the coins played window. Most likely there will be "0000" in the winner paid window.
With the door open turn the jackpot reset key until the cursor is under the 0 on the left side. It should be blinking.
Press the spin reel button once and a 1 should replace the 0 ... 1000 should be there with the 1 blinking.
Press the self test switch again and if a number 7 is in the coins played window repeat step above.
Once the coins played window changes to an 8 close the door.
