Hey guys,
I have a 3 reel Crystal Sevens machine with a 38 SIMM it was working fine earlier until I turned the machine on and it shows this Sound SIMM memory error. After turning the key a few times, it showed the same message. I tried doing a clear and key setting it but that hasn't solved the problem. The only thing that solved it was the 42 SIMM and the machine works fine. But when I put the 38 in and it didnt work. Is there a solution to this or do I have to get a new SIMM? Thanks in advance.

Verify the dip switches are the same as in your 42 simm. You can also try switching them back and forth to the correct position. If it doesn't work, your simm got zapped and you need to send it to someone who can fix it, or just buy another one.

I checked the dip switches and they're all at the same position as the 42. Still hasn't worked.

I agree with Rick...I had one go through the mail once and it got zapped some how....dont know if went through an xray or it was due to their sorting equipment....anyway had to get a replacement
-
So I'm guessing I have to get a replacement?
-
Replace it. The 42 proves that the system is working. Unless you want to get an eraser out and clean the contacts on the SIMM. Not much else can be done.

Ok. Thanks guys for your help

Have you tried cleaning the contact pads on the simm with a pencil eraser?
-
I haven't tried it yet I'll give it a shot

Unfortunately I'm going to replace the SIMM since the pencil eraser trick didn't solve the problem. But I tried that and nothing really happened. I was going to put in the WTB list but I couldn't figure out how to start a new topic on that page. How weird.

Ouch NLG has really changed. I remember buying/selling parts from NLG no problem on the old site. For me I was just a regular member at the time.

Well, it boils down to how much you think this information is worth. It's not like you can just go out and buy all the information on this site on a handy tome. Unfortunately hosting and bandwidth costs money, so some compromise had to reached. You can still participate and get the information you need, so it's not so bad.

Ok thanks rick
