Title: BB1 Operating System Question
Post by: idylewild1 on March 24, 2014, 03:54:48 PM
Trying to load "Airplane" game theme on a BB1 with 512 Meg of memory. The game flash calls for OS family 13.10. I don't have this os and have tried 13.21 and 13.33 with no luck. Does anyone have this game running and what os did you use to load. Thanks for any info.

I'm pretty sure it's a BB2 game that requires 1gb of ram

The games that he is referring to are most likely the dual platform games that run on both BB1 and BB2.

There are quite a few games that will work on both a BB1 and BB2, but Airplane isn't one of them unfortunately.

Jewels of Africa uses the same OS family as Airplane and it will also work on a BB1. In my experience, most games that use the H9.xx OS will work on both (but not all of them).

Actually, most of the dual platform games worked on OS H13.XX.  BB1 is phased out so no new games for that platform, time to convert to a BB2 if you want to play the newer games, and have the $$$ and energy to do the conversion.

I read this thread deeply and i have a question. I have a bb1 machine w/ 512ram running Super Jackpot Party. I found a seller claiming he has a bb1 version of AIRPLANE and the OS card that works with it... As the first post states, they tried different operating systems but I have one coming that's .01 more than what the first post has... here's the pic. I'm still waiting to find a ram clear card before I try installing it.

As a general rule, if a game requires for example H13.1x, ANY OS that is H13.1x or HIGHER will work fine, you just can't go lower.  I don't think I have ever seen airplane run on a BB1 CPU.  If it does, please post the version number of the game that works.

Well, the seller is wrong and what they should of said was they have a BB1 cabinet with a BB2 CPU (aka a BB1.5 set up) that plays Airplane.

I can tell you that is not a Factory labeled card, not saying a copy, could have been a casino or factory field office but I can tell you that program number needs 1gb of Ram and that means BB2 CPU

also the same seller says they have Battleship and is tested working..... BSheeeet called on this, not possible as it is not a stand alone game.

But hey it has to be true since it is on the internet

If you need a Clear Card, True Factory set of Airplane or a BB2 CPU we have them in stock, tested and ready to ship

People are confusing what a Bluebird actually is... Bluebird is the name of the cabinet! We should be referring to what MPU version will run these games. ex NXT1, NXT2, and NXT3. Maybe less confusion out there.

I may have bought the wrong ram clear card... i have the 1810 but it can't run the clear program. I can't find an ebay listing for the 1350... :(

1810 should work just fine on a BB1 or BB2.  Are you waiting for the second green screen to appear before powering down?  If you are powering down at the first green screen, you need to wait for the second one to appear.

the ram clear program won't even load... it gets stuck at can't mount fs to drive (or something like that)

You have an old BIOS chip, you need to get the 2000 version, you probably have the 1160 version?

No idea how to do that! At this point I want to buy a bb1.5 machine but do you think I'd be able to find one for $1k? Lol

Short answer is no way, convert what you have.  Still not gonna be for $1K but still costs less than buying an entire machine.

It's just an eprom you take out the old one, put in a new one.  It is the only 32 pin socketed chip in your bb1 mpu box.  Looks like this picture.

Also, make sure your BB1 CPU has the max amount of RAM in it which is 512 Meg

Was just curious.

Did we ever get the Airplane game to work in the BB1 with a 2000 BIOS chip?
It looks like a real cool game.
Also, if it did work, was the 512MB SSG-1696 os fam H13.34 the correct operating system card?

Thanks,

Todd

You can run it in a dual 19" Bluebird 1 cabinet but MUST have a NXT-2 MPU in the machine.

Bluebird = The type of cabinet
NXT 1, 2, 3 = The CPU/MPU running it.

Thanks Charles,

This is what I believed to be true.
Just wasn't sure how this post concluded.

Was hoping a 2000 BIOS would have worked.
Guess I'll just have to add a Blue Bird 1.5 (NXT-2) to my wish list.

Thanks again,

Todd

Its worth the upgrade if you plan on converting it to widescreens.
