Title: s9000 printer config error
Post by: ashesovervegas on September 12, 2015, 11:42:45 AM
I just took delivery of a used bally s9000 quick hit black gold machine. I stupidly made an adjustment in the settings for a "2D barcode". Now I get a "printer config error" and I am unable to reset it. When I tried going back in to undo my change, the screen will not allow me to select it again.  I tried pressing the reset button on the pc, and pressing and holding for 15 seconds. Now all I get is a "call attendant" error with a "printer config error" on the list of errors on the admin menu. Is there a way to unlock all the menu options again? Would it be best to try and do a total reset of the machine?

If you are unable to make the change, you have to do a RAM CLEAR.

Before that, are there any credits sitting in the game? Some options are not available when credits are in the machine.

Also are you pressing the button to go into the menus on the MPU vs the key?

In doing a RAM CLEAR would that create any risk with making the game work as it did before? Do you have a how-to topic on how to do a RAM CLEAR? I dont have any special chips or hardware other than typical tools.

There are no credits on the machine.

I am pressing the "testing" button on the MPU instead of the key. I found that the key does not give you the full admin controls.

We will need to know what OS card you are using so we can tell you what clear card you need.  Doing a clear on these machines is very easy.  You remove the two compact flash (cf cards) from the brainbox.  Put the clear cf where the os card goes.  Boot up the machine, you will eventually see a menu that will tell you to turn the jackpot reset key to clear.  It will clear the machine and you power down and put back the game and OS cards.  When you first bootup a cleared machine, you will need to setup everything again from scratch.  I have a video posted on how to setup a quick hit machine, you can follow that video to setup your black gold machine.

You will need a 335 clear card.  Before you clear, looks like you have a 3 reel quick hit machine?  Take a picture of your progressive settings as you will need that information when setting it up again, and the numbers there are important, not the current jackpot, but the reset jackpot numbers.  You will also need to duplicate the max bet setting as well as the denomination. I should mention that you can change the denom and max bet settings if you want to, but then you will need to calculate the numbers in your progressive setup as they have a correlation.  It is not that difficult, but it is probably easier for someone who has never done it, to just jot down what is there now and duplicate it.
