Title: Reprogramming a Game King 6.2
Post by: speedbump on October 11, 2015, 11:42:46 AM
I've had a Game King 6.2 for a couple years now.  The other day I turned it on and got the "Low Battery - Call Attendent" warning.

The battery was in one of those slide out holders, so it was changed in a matter of minutes, but the process caused the machine to lose a bit of programming.  What I mean is, while the machine still functions, it seems to have reverted back to a basic mode.  All the payout percentages are now the same.  It has changed from ticket pay to hopper pay, even thought there is no hopper.  It has added coin in, even though there is no coin slot or mech.   It has removed one slot game and substituted another.

Many of these things appear to require a chip to change the programming and I have one that came with the machine, however, I haven't the foggiest idea how to go about it.  When I purchased the machine I watched the tech do the programming at it appears to be a task that is not for the feint of heart.

Is there a cheat sheet out there somewhere that takes a noob like me, step by step through programming a 6.2?

Thanks!

If 6.2 then you would have an enhanced 044 board that would require a key chip 28.  Key chip 22 and 40 would be for the 3902 boards.

Philip

So, do I need a different cheat sheet for programming?  (I haven't started yet.)  I have whatever key chip came from the remanufacturing company I got the machine from.  It is not marked but they used it to program the machine when I purchased it, so I know it is the right one.

It is an 044 board.

The procedure is similar.  The only issue is that with a gameking, you can manually assign games to different denominations.  So it can be quite an exercise if you want to enable all the available games.  If you just setup 1 denomination and leave the defaults, you will have a working game set, but not all games will be enabled.

I want to enable all slot games in four different denominations, each denomination at different percentages.  Ditto for poker, keno and blackjack.

I also want to set the percentages on the slot bonuses and enable double down on blackjack.

I double checked at the machine has a 28 chip.

You cannot independently set bonus percentages on the slot games. You pick a percentage for each denom and that is it.  Same with all others, i.e. Poker, blackjack, etc.

I thought you could set the frequency with which bonuses came up, like with super 8 racer.

To the best of my knowledge all the slot games have an overall set percentage.  I have never seen where you could set the frequency of the bonus rounds.

Perhaps I was reading too much into things, but under the Fruit Meter set up, it appeared you could alter the frequency with which the slot bonuses showed up.

Perhaps it was wishful thinking on my part.

Just helped speedbump with this... It actually wasn't too hard considering I've only worked on a very old GK. Once the key chip was in and powered on, three colored bars came up with one saying KEYCHIP. I pressed that to initiate the KEYCHIP. It didn't prompt me to power down the machine and remove the chip, but I did anyway. One I rebooted, it came up with the menus to set up the machine and it was all fairly straightforward although some of the settings were unfamiliar to me! It took two tries and I got it right!

Just a word of thanks for your efforts.  :thank_you:  It was a learning experience for both of us.

Now if we can just figure out how to install the TITO device.  :Scratch-Head:

Again, if I can ever return the favor with your Mills mechanical machines please do not hesitate to call.

TITO's are a breeze to install.  I made a howto here exactly for your platform.

Now you tell us....

Is this for the basic TITO or the TITO deluxe?  (Don't know if there is a difference in installing the two.  I have the basic unit.)

Also, will doing this uninstall all the programming it took shortrackskater house to figure out?

Confirming, this is for a GK 6.2?

It is the same for both.  If you only perform the key chip function, you will not erase all the other programming.  You basically only do the apply key chip in the key chip menu, DO NOT do the other two.  You must also do this with 0 credits on the machine.
