Main battery low/ options verification required

I have an 044 GK and just added a new battery and a GKBDEV39 chipset from a vey helpful member.

After clearing the ram and turning off the non-wap, I had everything working beautifully and I just had to go into the settings and I didn’t think I did too much but I guess I did because now I’m getting a low battery tilt and I just can’t seem to get rid of it and move onto it working.

Any thoughts on this?

BTW,The new battery tested well @3.2v.

Options verification required is not an error. It always appears after setup. It will go away when you figure out the battery problem.

Other than a fresh battery what would be a place to check for this battery problem?

The only thing I have not done is mess with the EEPROM settings.

Did you replace with the correct coin battery with the correct side up?

I did,2354 + side up,3.2v checked.

Is machine actually going into a closed door state? Does the MPU have a leaking varta battery on it?

This unit does not have that battery,Ron helped me remove one from my spinning machine.

I do not know what a closed door state is?

I turn the machine off. I push the white button hold it turn the machine on. It gets me into the clearing of the ram which I do and then go to gameplay it immediately shows call attendant, I open the door and it gives me an alarm for a ram error turn attendant key for more information.
The next screen is a critical data, error, recoverable error, turn attendant key switch to clear which I do and get a blank screen for about five seconds and then press and hold switch for 2 to 3 seconds after I do that initializes the system and makes me wait.

A few seconds later, the main screen appears and then the main battery low options verification required bulletin comes up. All these last steps are done with the door open. I close the door. The only change on this bulletin is call attendant above the main battery low.

I even switched the batteries from my spinning machine to the poker machine again and the spinner machine works with either battery, but the poker machine doesn’t work with either or should I say it’s still giving me the battery message so it’s not the battery

I also found a post by Tilt who said cleaning the battery contact points may help,I used 99% but nothing has changed.

If you are getting call attendant then it's seeing the door closed, so that is not the problem.

Your correct,the see attendant is only on until I open the door.

Sounds to me like the problem is most likely on the board itself.  There's a resistor network and comparitor circuitry that tells the MPU when the main battery is low and something in it has failed.  Check with member Lookes, he can probably fix it for you.

I’d like to give an update because I did get the machine up and running for a while before I assume it’s the board and send it out.

So I replace the MPU fan and cleared the Ram like I’ve done a dozen times I was able to get a screen which at this time, only said verify all options before putting machine play and gave me an OK button to push which open the game play.

Was able to play the game video poker for a while until it again locked up with the low battery message.

With any of this new information point to a problem other than the board?

Is sending the board out the solution or is it just a possible solution?

Before I completely locked up the last time when I was in gameplay, and the last thing, it was allowing me to do was push the button for other games, and the only thing that changed on the screen was my credit, and it changed from Credit $99.98 to bold letters of credit with just the numbers 9998.

All the battery circuitry is on the MPU board.  There wouldn't be anything else that would give you a main battery low message.  Since you've tested the battery and cleaned the battery holder contacts that leaves components on the MPU as the remaining cause.

That's normal when switching from game to game.  It defaults to credits.  If you want to see the dollar amount you have to switch it back by touching the credit number on the screen.  I'm sure it's psychological thing.  I didn't just lose $100, I lost 100 credits.

Is there anything I can do to re-solder the battery holder or any other component that might be related to this issue before I send the board out?

Just trying whatever I can before I mail out the tray with circuit boards.

Again the ‘ verify all options before putting machine in play’ appears with a box with OK, after selecting OK the machine and game opens up and allows me to play it until I open the door to pull the bill out of the bill holder and now again call attendant main battery low message appears with no options to clear it.

I’m hoping some of this information might be helpful.
