Was given this broken machine and I need help lol.
« on: October 26, 2024, 06:10:13 PM »
I would like to get this machine back working. First thing, is this a Fortune 1? Tag says IGT model 404 1981. Looking around that best i could come up with.  The monitor was dead, I hit it with my Crt Rejuvenator and got a decent picture for a minute, but after a power cycle it is not way over driven blue. The color pots on both monitor and board make zero difference. It's the RBG 1401 Does someone sale cap kit for this model? I see a listing for a RGB 1401 a kit on ebay, but unsure if they are the same. But at least the flyback is working.  The game plays but has missing graphics, can't see the dealer's hand, and the screen is doubled or quadrupled.  So, looks like the main board needs some work also.

Sorry for so many questions, normally I am one to try my own research before that.  But hard to do that when you are not even sure what you have. lol

One of the common issues on those F1s is the color pots. I think KLar would replace them with resistors which would loc the color at green/blue.
You can replace the pots.
The boards are overall quite rugged and seem to live forever.

Is that a RGB monitor or a Trinitron?

Nice game.

So this is a Fortune 1 machine? I thought it was, but wasn't sure. It has the RGB 1401 monitor.  It had a decent picture for a minute.  The power cord to machine was bad, i bumped it and it did a quick off then back on. When it came back up the blue  background was over driven. I am thinking that is a board issue. I will probably send it in Klar to fix.

Just a thought, you might want to send your RGB board to KLar also. Highly likely it needs caps and has trace issues. If it doesn’t I guarantee you it eventually will. Its an easy board to pull from the chassis. Just be sure to discharge the anode cup, those do not self-discharge well.

I should be able to handle the CRT monitor. I have rebuilt a few Arcade monitors. Its the Game pcbs I don't have much experience with.
