Would you be interested in a working machine for the next one? IGT Aristocrat manufactured by Ainsworth May 5, 1982 (31/5/82) model V7408, lightning, 3 reel, 5 line .25 coin with stand. In my house near Knott"s in Southern Calf. One bulb and keys (two barrel) missing. Thanks, Dave

Great job. I have been "messing around" with the same machine about a year, with no real progress. What was  your trouble shooting procedure and what repairs were necessary? Do you have a source for parts?

Thanks,
Goober

First do you have a manual for your machine? Look at the batterys and board for damage. Please tell in detail what's wrong i.e tilt light, reals not stoping ect.

I jest read your other post. The machine will not work with out the batteries. Solder wires to the battery terminals and hook up a external battery holder. From what I have Ben told use only nicad. Rechargeable batteries. Your in luck that the board is not acid damaged.

I have read your pm. I can't seem to send you a reply to your pm for some reason.

Install 2aa nicad rechargeable by method of your choice. Power up machine and open the door. Find button by coin in  mag. Press it and it should release handle sol. Pull handle to see if the reals spin and stop. If good so far close door if tilt lights up you likley have a bad optical real sensor.

Check all power supply Voltages again.

the real stop motor and home switch. The manual shows in detail how to do this.

"By the way, on the processor board IC4 and Stowage sockets are both empty. From reading some archived posts, it seems that is normal, dependig on the model. Sound right to you?"

Does your board have a piggy back ram expansion board with ribbon cable plugged into slot next to storage?

"I installed two Eveready AA 2300 mha nicads in a case that is soldered into the PCB where the old batteries were. Pretty sure I installed them fully charged, but next time I checked they were dead, so I am charging them now. Does it need the batteries to operate?"

Yes.

"There is not much leakage, but the batteries are obviously gone. Was your damage visible, or did you have to test for fried components?"

Yes, you can see photos at the start of this thread. Good luck. I can not answer pm,s for some reason.

"Which manual? I have the 1983 Aristocrat manual and the Esprit Manual, esprit wiring and esprit drawings. Don't recall seeing this in any of those. How do you get access to the DC output terminals to check the voltage? AC face the front, but DC face to the side where there is no room."[/size]

Please post a photo of your manual it see if it is the correct one.to measure voltage unplug all plugs to the cpu look at schematic to find witch terimals are from power supply. Not all power circuits are referenced to ground so keep that in mind when checking.
