To avoid annoying sideways photos, please EDIT them in you phone by just rotating them 360 degrees. (or 45 and back I think)
When you orient the phone horizontally, it saves that perspective which causes the "sideways-ness."
Otherwise you're friendly Admin with OCD will spend his entire day flipping pictures!  :rotfl:

I tried the double diamond MPU....this time with the bill validator and cash can installed and was able to get the reels to spin.  It seems there is a problem with my original MPU.  I will have to reach out to member Lookes to see if repairing my MPU is an option.  Thanks for the advice, this is progress.

Thank you both for the help and ideas.  It is an SC6602 based on the front label.  The unit does not cycle.  I will have to read up on how to test this out later this evening.  I will also have to read up on how to use auto config to initialize it.

If you are sure the cable and reel 5 connector are good, no pins pushed out the back, I'd try yet another MPU.

I have not ever seen this MPU working.  I recently got this machine and have been trying to get it up and running.  For what it's worth, I did try another MPU that I have in a S2000 5 reel double diamond machine (no reel touch on this machine) and I also see the NetPlex error message.

I should point out that this machine does not currently have a bill validator installed in it.  I can try the one from the double diamond machine along with the MPU and see what happens.  I think when I tried the double diamond MPU previously, I did not have a bill validator installed.

I will also try reseating the I/O cards with the power off, as you suggested.

Greetings all,

I've got a real head scratcher here with a 5 Reel Vision game.

Reel 5 spins backwards on boot up, when it decides to even spin at all. Of course it immediately goes into a Reel Tilt that I can't seem to figure out.

Here's a breakdown of everything I've tried so far.

Originally the game was fubar, so after some deep cleaning and adding the missing parts I was able to get to the point of Please Close Main Door. Which, of course would not clear. So, 3 MPUs later and adjusting the Optics several times and changing them out for known working ones, I finally got it to recognize the Door being closed.

I Cleared and Keyed the machine and it was good for a day. Then it quit again after a few spins the following day and I received Door Open MB and Reels Disconnected.

I changed out the Backplane (960 type) and machine wouldn't even boot with that one. So, I put a different Backplane in and I got right back to the Reels Disconnected Error.

Next, I changed out the Reel Harness with a spare (Backlit Harness in place of the original non-backlit, because that's all I had) and the Reels came back to life and spun normally.

Day 3. I finish up with some cosmetics, Top Glass, Reel Glass, etc. and now the #5 Reel attempts to spin with the Main Door Closed, but doesn't make a complete spin before it tilts. It's not touching anything, I checked that first.

With the Door open, it sometimes spins backwards, other times it doesn't spin at all. So, I installed another Reel Harness, no change. Swapped in a different Reel, no change, swapped Reels 4 and 5, stays with the #5.

At this point, I'm not sure what else to try.

I could try another Backplane if someone thinks that could be the issue. Or does it sound like something with the Software? SG Chips, perhaps? It's using SG173 with Stepper Base 000440. Both of which I assume are correct. I know the SB is anyway. Double Diamond Run 45 Credit 5 Reel.

Does anyone have any additional suggestions on what to do next?

I'm going to go ahead and change the Backplane once more just for grits and shins. I'll let you know if that helps.

Thanks, Curtis ash100

Thank you never saw one with this type of low jackpot numbers on a 5 line dd

Haha...those aren't low if the denomination is set for a dollar per credit?
A lot of casinos threw these machines into the high rollers room with $5 or $50 denominations at the end of their lifetime!

even if the machine didn't work, the bill unit should cycle and you should have a green led lit and blinking every couple seconds.

if the unit does not cycle, check the power connectors on the back, cash can could be dirty, or use the auto config to initialize it.

go into version accounting, and check and see what the unit is programmed.

Hope this helps

Hello and welcome to NLG.

You have a MARS MEI Cashflow Bill Validator.

The lights on the front of the unit will give you an idea as to it's condition.

Right now, it's showing all 3 LEDS, red, yellow and green. This normally means it's not flashed to the correct Firmware for your machine.

For IGT S2000, you'll need it flashed to ID024, and the part number should be SC6602. Check to see if it's the correct one.  There's a sticker on the front with the model number. If it's a 6607 (RS232) then it's for a different machine.

More information about the Validator and troubleshooting tips can be found in the Bill Validator Forum on this site. The manual can also be found online and will show what the different LEDs mean on the front.

To be operational, you'll need a slow blinking green LED. Solid yellow means Cash Can is not present.

It could also be a faulty Interface Card that's mounted between the Head and Cash Can.

Hope this helps out.

There are members here that can Flash and test your Head, or there's a few complete set ups for sale in the Classified Section.
