s6000 Mystic Lamp Slot
« on: July 27, 2016, 12:37:41 PM »
when turned on the "coin in" and "paid" lamps do not come on.  Attempted partial clear but no results.
When turned on the wheels do a very short jiggle but do not change positions.
Battery is good.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. :Scratch-Head:

Did Clear with another set of chips.  NOW..   Turn on..audio intro..1st wheel jumps slightly to a regular beat... the "spin" button lights up...press the "spin" button and the sound associated with the reels spinning does not stop.  Reels are not spinning.  1st is still slightly jumping.."coin in" and "paid" still do not light up

Was it working correctly prior to this problem? If so did you recently make any changes?

Has not been working.  Pick it up recently and have begun to mess with it.  Question..  one of the reel has a different SMI # on it.  Would this pose any problem?

No the different # on the reel doesn't matter. There all the same and often get swapped around over time. As for your problem, please post a photo of the mpu as this will save a lot of questions. From the description of the problem it could be any one of a variety of causes. Posting a good photo of the mpu will allow myself and others to zoom in on key areas of the board that may help solve the issue. In the meantime check all the various plugs on the wiring harness to make sure they have good connections. Also check the two long plugs on the back edge of your mpu, look down in the socket and make sure all the little brass prongs are straight and aligned uniformly. Occasionally one of those prongs will get bent over and not interface with the machine correctly and it throws everything off.

Thanks for the photos. I immediately notice that your mains are plugged in the wrong sockets. Also the double battery set up concerns me.. I'll continue looking around for other stuff..

In case you don't know which chips are the mains they are the two to the left of your game chips marked as U28 and U43. Those two chips need to switch positions on the board into the sockets correspondingly marked U28 and U43. Once you get them installed correctly perform a complete saferam clear and see what happens. Usually putting them in wrong screws them up but it's worth a try to see if swapping them into the correct sockets will work as it's possible they may not be damaged however if they don't work you'll obviously have to get a new set. Correcting this will definitely produce results of some sort.

Additionally the battery set up may not be adequate. The required battery for this board is rated at 3.6V which the 2 alkaline batteries installed cannot produce. The most 2 new standard AA batteries will give you is 3.0V which is right on the edge of not having enough voltage to satisfy board requirements.

I purchased a 3.6v battery and will install.  I'm assuming the chips are now bad having been installed incorrectly.  I will locate and purchase new chips.  Do the chips that have the clear option also work well.
Then, I'll see what happens.  Will any set of chips work for the "Mystic Lamp" or do they have to be order specific.

The leave in saferam mains work very well, I have them in all my S6000's. However if you have a printer and want to keep using it you will have to get the regular mains. And no, mains are not game specific.
