Game King version? Upgrade to 6.4 ? Total Newbie

Just bought my first Game King. I am so much of a newbie, I have not even unloaded it from my truck yet. :yes:  I wanted a 6.4 but could not find in my local market. Pretty sure I got a 6.x but not sure of the version. This would be using the 044 board as I understand. How do I tell the version and how would I go about getting the 6.4 software on the machine?  Thanks folks

You would have to buy the flash board (which contains the software) with a 6.4 gameking flashed on it.  When you get your machine, if you open the door and pull out the mpu tray.  There will be a board with an IGT sticker with the number GK000xxxx, if you post that number we can determine what version you have.  Sometimes it doesn't have the sticker, in which case you would have to go into the setup menu and select the option to display software version or was it manifest( it's under the accounting menu, I forget what the exact term is).  It will tell you which GK000xxxx is flashed on the board.

No it may not indicate the version as the pic of Jason's was flashed again with the 6.4 and your's may have been as well and they just left the label on it.  As stated in this post just go into menus and see.

It boils down to availability.  Only a few people have the equipment necessary to re-flash the boards.  I personally like the Super Stars Poker flash board better than the 6.4 gameking.  That being said, I still want a gameking 6.4.

In my opinion if you're more of a slot guy I think 6.x has more to offer.  If you're a video poker fanatic Super Stars Poker is a must-have, but now GK 6.4 has video poker games you don't have on Super Stars -- so you need both.   :yes:

Platform is now obsolete.  6.4 I believe is the last Hurrah.  I disagree as far as slots.  Super Stars Poker has the full Wolf Run and Coyote Moon games (5 reel video games), no other gameking version has full versions of these 2 slots.

Get both.  Can't get multi-hand poker on 6.x...only Superstar Poker.  If you get both games, you'll never need anything else.
