IGT S+ SETUP
« on: May 13, 2017, 10:44:37 AM »
I have looked for about an hr trying to find how to setup my s+ again.I had it on my phone and like an idiot I must have cleared it.  my slot has a SP 1227 chip so I remember that I was first using the old type(push button 3 times) and then found the correct setup (push 2 times)  but from there I'm lost. Thanks Ron

Why do you keep resetting it? A reset should be the last thing to do. If you want to change settings, don't do a reset. Then you have to start all over again. Your SPchip may have a cash/credit feature. The chime you are talking about, is that the jackpot bell going off when you have a win? That can be set, with the set chip to only ring when you hit a jackpot or on every win. The PSR will tell you how. If you have the cash/credit feature, pushing the button (like after replacing the bulb) will put all wins to cash out. Pushing it again will put all wins to credit. I'm wondering if that is what you are experiencing. You changed the bulb and pushed it to see if it works and put it in pay out mode. Try pushing it again and see if the wins go to credit.

Hey Dave,  I reset it because I tried everything else but being a newbie I thought it would fix the
Problem. I can get a win and it will payout 2 coins for cherries etc but if a change to credits it will give me the 2 credits in the win window but all the rest digits will b zeros and ding/ chime will continue unless I use key. My slot is a Louisiana Louie and only has a cash out button and when pushed it makes no difference but it did work before  I replaced the bulb, so I took it out and still the same. Funny think is it worked as it should till I  pulled the switch. It would win to credit spin/ max credit lights lite up and was able to play off credits and no zeros. Thanks again for your time and thoughts. Ron

I think he's saying he's turning the jackpot reset key, not doing a RAM clear.

Ron: It sounds like your credit limits are set incorrectly, causing every win to be a handpay.  Are you familiar with how to change the credit and jackpot limits with your chip?

I guess I'm in that older group with you, when he said he did a "total reset" I thought
he meant he was clearing ram and resetting everything back to default.  :odie:

Sorry for confusion,  being new to this my
Mind hasn't grasped how they work yet. I want to thank everyone for the help and this is where I'm at. It's a 3 reel progressive and has a SP 1227. Type01/45/19. 10/08/01   1-512.  Here is my settings. 2-1. 5-0  7-1 1000 7-2 1200 7-3 9998 7-5 2000 and right
Now it pays out if the hopper. Since we are not supposed to have coins in SC I need to put it on credits. Ron

Put a .984 size token in the comparator and fill the hopper.  Now it's a token machine.  No problem.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about using coins, nobody cares unless you are running an illegal casino. The law is there if they need to use it to arrest someone that is operating a casino-like game for profit. For private use in your home (not a business location) very few people will even know and those that do know won't think anything about it. Just don't set it up to keep the money people lose. But you will find that over time your playing quarters will disappear as people keep them. So as elvis said earlier, just install a quarter token in the machine coin comparitor and buy a hundred tokens for the machine to be played with. That ends the worry about the legality and about people taking your quarters. This is how a lot of machines are sold from various places to remove the appearance that it is a gambling machine, the tokens convert it into an arcade machine similar to the game arcades and pizza parlors. That's one way to handle things.

You wouldn't have to fill the hopper with tokens unless you wanted to. You can set the hopper payout limit to a lower number, then the machine will go into a "handpay" mode if a bigger jackpot is hit. In a casino a handpay win causes the casino slot person to come over and hand you your winnings. In your home you'd just have to turn the jackpot reset key to let the machine start playing again. Doing this would let the machine pay out smaller wins but not pay out on bigger wins, so you wouldn't run out of tokens/coins.

Also, you might be able to change a setting so that all wins go to credits on the machine, nothing is paid out. You'd also disable the Cashout button if you do this.

Did they change the law about slot machine ownership in S. Carolina? I thought all slot machines were prohibited there, didn't matter if they use coins or credits or whatever??

http://www.slotsmachineonline.org/buying/

If that's the case then it doesn't matter if you leave it setup for coins.

I'm not a lawyer or a cop, and I think you should be able to own something like this as long as you don't try to setup a neighborhood casino on your own and fleece your friends and neighbors.   :garfield:

But my point earlier was that if the machine itself is illegal in your state then it doesn't matter if you use coins or credits or tokens, it could still be considered illegal. I'm not even sure it is legal if it doesn't even work, just a decorator item in a game room. Some states don't allow much leeway. So I don't think you have to worry about changing it to credits or tokens to make it legal, just convert it if you want to for other reasons.

A lot of people own these machines in states that technically prohibit it. I guess it is a risk, but it's one of those things that the authorities are not going to go looking for. But if you are having people play it and they lose money that you keep then someone could report it and then the authorities could look into it. They don't want illegal gambling activity going on. Treat it like an arcade game, not a gambling game device.
