Local Area Progressive means the game needs to be connected to a progressive controller that links multiple machines within the casino (hence Local).  Wide Area Progressive (WAP) are machines where the progressive traverse multiple casinos, usually within the same jurisdiction.

I'm surprised nobody has gotten their hands on a controller and has gotten LAP to work.   the network hardware is easy to come across as well as some LAP themed controller cards.

One of my favorite games. The Fonz is the best version, IMO.
I only know of one place that still has these on their casino floor.
They have been pulled from most of the East Coast ones.
These are usually hooked up to a community bank.
