S2000 progressive meter not working
« on: December 29, 2014, 04:42:25 PM »
Machine display says C9 and flashes 0.00 for a split second every once in a while.  There is a sticker on the machine that says "this progressive will no longer be offered on Sept 15 2014" machine came from Trump Plaza.  I'm not sure if it's something that just needs to be reconnected or what.  Any info is much appreciated.  Thanks ILK

Sounds like you may have a Cham II setup.   Could be a communication/connection error. check the archives for post on how to set these up.  Tt is tedious the first time, but not that hard to do.  Post some pics of the progressive so we can confirm what you have.  :dancing_2:

You will need a set 17 chip I think. Took me forever to setup, but a member from Maine called me and walked me through it.

Pics as requested, let me know if you need an up close of something.  I would imagine it would already have the correct chip if it was already set up for progressive at one time.  There is a data wire coming from the top that has been cut.  :Scratch-Head: ILK

The set chip is to enter the setup menu to program it. They do not leave the casino with the progressive active.

Okay, I see what you are saying.  I have an attendant key on order, so probably need to wait on that to enter the setup menu.  Is there a walk threw thread somewhere on how to set this up?  :thank_you: ILK

Key not for setup. You will pull board, remove SB chip insert key chip put back in machine, wait for 2 lights. remove board, remove key chip and install SB and put back in machine. Then the hard part begins. I will look in my book to see if I saved the instructions I got. I remember it didn't work. Or was just over my head at the time. Pretty sure whoever you get key chip from can provide instructions.

The progressive unit (Hopefully a ChamII + ) is located in the top box behind the meter and we will need some pictures of that to see exactly what you have.
Here is the link from the Mikon progressive section on this site  http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=739.0
I would suggest learning a little more about the machines basic operation before you try and tackle the progressive. They are fun to play with but they are tedious to set up the first time.
You will need to be familiair and comfortable with Keying the machine as "therockinelvis" was describing in the reply above.
Look in the classifieds here or contact one of the many vendors listed to obtain a key chip etc.

You are better off replacing the mikohn system with just a spectrum meter.  That way you don't have to mess around with the PSP program or anything else.  Just plug it in and set up the progressive with a keychip.

Opened the top and took some pics to see what set up I have.  For what it's worth when I turn on the machine and it self tests it does mention something about netplex.  ILK

Looking at the Mikohn controller pcb (on top of the silver power supply box), you appear to have a chamII setup, which is a linked progressive.  You cannot get that going by itself, it will require a con2 supercontroller, or you could replace the chamII pcb with a chamII+ which would allow you to run it as a stand-alone progressive.  At this point, I would just invest on a spectrum and get rid of all that stuff that is inside the topbox.

Dang that figures, not looking to drop a boat load of money just to get the progressive working.  Is there a way to just set the jackpot at say 1000 instead?  :duh: ILK

The Spectrum is the way to go. It plugs into the netplex board and programs through the S2000 menu with key chip. Ask him to throw in a key chip with the deal.

You think I over priced the spectrum?

Sorry. No I don't. Just never hurts to ask. What's the most you could say? No. Or you could make another sale at your deal. That way he doesn't have to get from several places. Nothing bad intended. Have a HUNKA, HUNKA, Happy New Year.

Kittens
$35 bucks is a great deal for a spectrum. ( go check flea bay)
I paid over $80 bucks for one less than a year ago.
It is the easiest way to get your progressive up and running.
The only disadvantage is you can not add a message to be displayed along with the jackpot value on the meter.
You still will need a key chip, Ken at Ohio Gaming can help you with that also.

Okay!, I have my Spectrum all mounted nicely how I want.  I swap out my chips to get into 7.3 progressive, go to 7.3.3 stand alone set up.  I hit enter/spin reel, hoping to get into the setup and nothing.  Unable to get into stand alone setup.  I do have "no data" flashing across the spectrum.   Not sure if I need to turn something off, if the slot was previously CHAMII.  I am using SB100087.  Thank for any input.  I did search the forums looking for a solution to no avail.  ILK
