G23 Reboot Loop
« on: January 02, 2024, 06:49:25 AM »
Need some help figuring out what’s going on with my Dad’s G23.  It was working fine then he left it off for a couple of weeks and now when he turns it on it just keeps rebooting itself.  I hooked up a usb keyboard and went into the bios so I could turn of the AVP logo so I can see what is happening.  I have attached a pic below of where it gets to.  It sits there like that for roughly 2 minutes and then the red light on the pci card with the 2 batteries and ribbon cable comes on and it reboots and the whole process starts all over again.  Rinse and repeat!  Any ideas on the cause and how to break the cycle?

Thank you,

John

For what it's worth, I only see the red led come on briefly, when the machine is first powered on...that's it.

I think he needs to turn on the machine more often....I'm going to say at least 4 hours per week?
See why below...>>>

Since there's not much you can do from home....tell dad to turn it on, and leave it on overnight.
I the morning, shut it off, and switch it back on right away.
What I'm hoping is that maybe the telltale batteries get a recharge to help get the machine back on.
