Author Topic: Zeus II on BB1...need opinions! (Read 7798 times)

Hi Everyone,

I need your help as I'm investigating the Zeus II game for my BB1. I realize that I'll need an EBB setup.

I have the newer blue board/MPU with the Celeron processor and 512 megs of ram. I have heard from some that certain games were actually written for the BB2 platform and that on a BB1 (like mine) some games will stutter during reel spin. Could somebody with a setup similar to mine that has Zeus II let me know if the game runs smooth or if there is stuttering? I don't want to spend the money on the game and EBB if the game is going to run like a dog. I'd rather put my $ somewhere else if this is the case.

I would really appreciate the feedback if anyone has experience with this.

I have run Zeus 2 on my BB1 Dual Screen machine with the same blue board etc................

It did not stutter at all as I recall................If you are really into that game I say go for it!!!

Just so you know my Zeus 2 was running on os h9 in the video.

I don't know what the difference is between the OS h9 vs h13 versions.

I don't think I have the h13 version to see what the differences are.

What does one usually gain or lose by using different operating systems?

The game card indicates which OS Family is required. So if H13.10 is indicated you have to use that OS at a minimum. Usually you can use a higher number in that series if you don't have that exact numbered card. So if you have H13.30 the game should play fine with that. The higher the number the more updates WMS provided for that series. Updates were released with bug fixes, and for compatibility with newly released games that would not run properly on a previous version. There are also updates issued to fix bugs in the game software cards too. That's why you may see the same game card with different numbers on them.

Thanks Jeff. That makes sense. Generally speaking, is there a document that shows the latest release version numbers for all games and OSs that users can refer to? I would suspect that old versions get sold on the cheap if it's a bug infested release.

It doesn't matter for home use. The rescinded versions work just fine for us, so for home use its a buyers and sellers market, just look at ebay.

Ok...questions....

1. I noticed that during boot up and when I initially set this game up, there is a message in orange text says something to the effect of "Network cable unplugged or not configured..." something like that. The game is working fine though.

2. The version of software that I'm using is 9.x. Would 13.x clean anything up in terms of performance? The only reason that I ask with this game is that it does lag just a little bit in spots with heavy animations. That could just be how it is. I played this on a BB2 last weekend and it was super smooth, so maybe that's what I'm remembering. I'm also using a v2000 BIOS with the Celeron CPU and 512 megs of RAM. Would there be any performance hits using a hub to activate the HHSR compared to using direct 5v?

3. If I go into Setup under Game options/Zeus II options, there is a setting that refers to the Respin button configuration. Says that it's not configured and I can't seem to adjust anything. Not sure what that's about.

4. The LEDs on the HHSR are working fine and dancing around. Is there supposed to be an LED under the lens cap? If so, does it take the same bulb as the smaller buttons?

I would try the H13 version. I noticed back in the days of running a NXT1 that for some reason the Tiger's Realm I had was on H13 and ran a bit smoother than any of the ones on H9. Try that if you have access to that game and version. Like Zeus 2 they made it on both.

Thanks Charles. I'll probably try to sniff out a 13.x version just for comparison. If there aren't any changes...I guess I'll sell the 9.x version.

Oh yeah...there are 2 settings for the button panel that I was curious about. Standard and Common button panel...any preference?

If you ever plan on using an OLED panel with your BB1, you will need to use the H9.xx version of the game.
The H13.xx version will not work with the BB1+OLED panel.

What are you using for the 5 volts to power the button?
