IGT AVP Multi-Game

I just bought this AVP multi-game kine.

The dvd rom wouldn't open, I bought a new one and replaced it.

Problems (before any changes):

Flash drive (usb)  is in it but sometimes on both screens errors-  Emulator error- No Valid License GBE011-000176013 package
The flash drive is an original Venetian (las Vegas) casino one.  Bought this from the Plazzio in The Venetian.

also now locked up on a game and can't get out of it even when restarted.

any Idea's?    I'm a newbie here too. all help is appreciated.

If you are certain that the License Dongle is Valid for the Game Theme you have

Ensure that the Dongle is installed on the Backplane Board and not the Brain Box

Most important, Time & Date MUST BE SET correctly

This came with no directions on operations, etc.   I could turn it on and it worked for about 25 BJ plays and locked on the game and the error
message I mentioned came on.

if I restart the game and wait the 6 or so minutes while loading etc,, it will come back to the game but the touch screen is still locked.

I looked on IGT site to see about a new flash usb but can't tell which system I need or flash I need.

How do you get into the set up screens?.  the date was set when I bought it,  but if unpowered and the batteries are bad, it would change the
date?.

I just changed the dvd rom out to a new one and reset the cpu box and hooked up the 2 cables to it and  when I start it an error says:
No System Launcher found or determined, boot failure.'

geez,  I pulled the cpu box out and rest it and rehooked cables,   same error.

Do I have to push a reset button somewhere or?

ok,  I pulled the CPU box out again, reset the ribbon and power wires in the HD and the dvd rom, changed the dvd rom to master instead of slave and now seems to be loading correctly  AVP  then IGT   and now Game King Multi-game.   bill validator made some noise upon loading and is flashing blue  in the middle light.

game screen is on at the old game with 100o credits showing.   Now showing on main screen  Closure M , Closure LB, restart   all at the bottom of the screen.
I didn't open the LB door again and haven't closed the main door yet.
Now closing main door to see if it works...   so far looks locked. not working.

does it take time to work after closing the main door?.

  Its been 10 mins and the game screen is still on and stuck on Black Jack. 

I had pulled a little red knob with a cable, I think it is supposed to open the top video screen area, but it didn't.

Must be a reset switch or button somewhere to get into the system it's self??.  There is a little button on the computer box itself,  when pushed it shows- tilts and event logs.  I went into diagnostics and after a couple video test up pops the Error  mentioned in the first post.

any idea's?

The flash drive (dongle)?  is on a board with   usb connectors on the board.  1 is used by the usb connector from the lower lcd monitor. the others are empty except for this usb drive.

it (drive)  is lite green on the end of it when it is fully loaded.   

I haven't figured how to get into the program to change the time and games settings etc... Any Ideas??

I can't seem to open the top section for the upper lcd.  It was open and closed when I bought the unit.  I pulled the red knob with a cable that must unlock the top screen front,  but it won't release.. 

I checked with IGT but they can't help out end users, only casino's...    I have been trying to get one of the casino repair guys to come take a look and I would pay them, but they said they may sometime.. (must make good bucks there) and don't need any extra $. lol

In the NLG File System (located in the blue buttons at top of screen here), there is an AVP section under IGT Games. There are a 7-8 files there that may help you a bit. Also, check the NLG Archive site (link at top of page somewhere).


The problem you are having (of buying a slot machine and having no documentation or troubleshooting help) is HOW this site was born, thanks to members who were generous enough to contribute their findings and knowledge as they troubleshooted and repaired their own games. The manufacturers will be ZERO help, not even for parts. Local slot techs may or may not be helpful, all depends on their level of knowledge on the platform (not ALL slot techs are created equal). One thing is, the AVP platform is one of the newest platforms to be added to our site here, so knowledge base is not as strong as in some of the other platforms. We have probably a dozen or so members that know their way around an AVP, so hopefully, a few more will chime in.

I agree (Roz).  Can new members axcess the archives?  I can't remember.  After reading the posts this sounds like a genuine barrell of monkies!.  I am more familuar with the newer avp stuff.  It sounds as if you have a 2.0 or 2.5 brain box.  2.0 had to have a jumper installed for write/enable to make some changes/axcess etc.  I think some of the 2.5's were this way also.   Also you cannot just start switching cd roms etc. unless you have the proper e-key(s) and diagnostic discs in your case.  You are going to need the tools I mentioned most likely to be able to restore your settings and perform any changes.  Post some pictures of machine with lower door open etc. and brain box.  You need to know exactly what you have, Then consult the appropriate manual for info and troubleshooting techniques.  It sounds as if you have a mis-match going on now and you are showing credits.  The end of the dongle lit green is good and normal.  When I get back in later I may have a manual on cd and hardcopy I can get out.

Thanks Rox, Sizzle.   It was working for about 25 play on BJ,  I had put 5  twenty's in the machine so the son could play.  then it did the error I mentioned.   
I reset with the switch /key as the error had mentioned, It game unit restarted completely and it showed the correct credits but the touch screen
didn't work.

It showed on the monitor:   Closure M,   The seller said he had bypassed the closure LB switch with a piece of a paper card,  I opened the LB box door and checked the paper to see if it had moved during transport to my home,  reset the piece and made sure it was pushing the switch in correctly.

I noticed there was a dvd rom  but when pushing the open door button on it , it wouldn't open.   tried a few times then ordered a new dvd rom from amazon,  switched dvd from slave to master and the machine loaded correctly but no touch screen.  still showed the play credits And  Closure LB  and closure M   along with Restart all at the bottom of the monitor.

I opened the old dvd rom but no disc in it.   I also moved the usb dongle to a different usb spot on the board, still same. 

question,  by me pulling the red knob to open the upper monitor area (couldn't get it to open),  could that cause a problem also?

Closure messages are not ERRORS, they are notifications! They are History messages basically, letting you know a door has been accessed, but is now closed.

As Sizzler advises, I would use extreme caution making any hardware changes (I.e. the dongle you are moving around). Personally, I just wouldn't do it, PERIOD. If the game was working at one point with the dongle in one position, what would justify moving it?

What did you find in the download area? If you cannot access the section, a small donation would take care of that.

The red knob when you pull it should allow axcess to the monitor.  It is nothing more than a cable, Like a choke cable on a old car or a lawn more throttle cable.  The latches on these can be finiky and yes if one side is released it would open a cherry switch (inter-lock sw.) which brain box uses for logic on many switchs throught the machine.  Try to push in on the knob and the monitor housing area and see if you hear a click.  You are more than likely going to have to clear this thing and reset everything since you made changes to the game with credits on it.  You will need the correct discs or thumbdrives with correct media on them-Not sure if you can use the diag. thumbdrives on this model like you can on a newer model (No cd-rom type).

ok, I put the dongle back in the original usb slot.

I haven't been able to get to the download area??

I tried the push knob in and opened the monitor cover from the left side. duh',  pushed knob in and closed cover.

restarted  ,  all loaded,  closed front door.   WORKS,    will try a few games and see what happens.

I don't have any disc's or extra drive/flash  to work on the unit if need

How do I Get into the program for adjusting   the amount of bets (it is on  1 coin bet),  would like to increase it and
adjust which games I want it to show that can be played??

I tried to donate thru paypal but it kept kicking me out of the donate area..

it played for about 15 minutes and went to a blue screen  "system error"   Open Door for more information.
I open the main door and both screens went RED and the Original Error came up in the first post.

I turn the key switch and closed the main door and it started up fine again.   I am playing it to see if it is a error because of 15 minutes or if it comes up again . 

IS there a button I push to get into the programs to change amounts bet, Time, Games available to play???

No button on that one as I think just the newer style had the write/enable switch and had to use the appropriate e-key.  Yours probably requires a jumper-not sure as you never showed a pic of your logic(brain box) door open.  You cannot perform any changes to game/accounting related functions unless you axcess them using e-key and other.  Think about it-any joe-blow slot tech could change values in a casino without permission from the Gaming commision which regulates them all.  SO even though it is yours now at home the machine knows no diff-You will need the proper devices/software to perform changes and the knowledge thru manuals etc. to have a good idea of what you are doing.  You have a switch jiggling and opening upon play causing this OR you may have a Lic. dongle that has timed out-I have heard of this.  You cannot copy or duplicate a e-key or license dongle.  As far as your Donation it should work with no problems.  At least from some of these posts we have helped.  Date/time setting as hap posted earlier is also crucial-But You must be in set up to change it as it is linked to the accounting system.  The Machine does look nice,  Hope you got a good deal on it.  looks like a trim-line with gold clad.

Avp on the newer one's can monitor temp-then initiate a shut-down if it reachs over-temp.  These values can be monitored in diagnostics (new ones can).  I doubt that is the problem however. You must have made sure this thing worked for a few minutes when you looked then bought it?.

The second owner I bought from,  opened the unit while it was on and  He didn't show me how he got into the program BUT he
changed the games that could be played by toughing the game buttons shown on screen and they lite up a different color to
show they were on screen and playable for those games.

I haven't figured out where he and how he got into this system???. 

Hew was being tranfered that week out of the country and had to sell this.  So I bought it, we filled out the Nevada machine sales form for our protection.

Is there a place I can get manuals, discs, usb dongles?  for this unit.?

Yes, And thanks for the donation-That however did not hinder myself or some others from offering help-BUT once it takes there may be some useful info for you here.  We ARE currently in the process of upgrading our avp Data base and support.  He showed you a screen of the games that could play on the machine most likely using a axcess key.  You have to enable that game and turn the other off to use them.  Evidently you were not told everything that was needed.  You should Still be able to go in and view valuable data about the game in diff. menus but will not be able to make very many changes at all.
