Slant Top - Door Open
« on: September 28, 2015, 12:41:53 PM »
A guy calls says his S+ needs a battery (code 12) so I told him to bring it over.

Shows up with a slant top (yes, I should have asked) that looks like it came out of the trash (complete with a mouse house in the upper cabinet).

There is no bill acceptor and no wires going to the coin comparator. Says it is set up for free play.

Surprisingly it fired up and displayed a code 12. Changed the battery, code 61, pressed the white button, code 61-1 as expected. Went to close the door, no switches, no by pass wires. There is nothing to indicate where they would originate from.

I'm not able to post pictures until the weekend as I'm out of town.

Would someone know how I can fool the machine into thinking that the door is closed?

There could be other issues as far as the free play and the non working coin comparator but I can't get by the 61-1 without closing the door.

Again, no upper, lower, or door switches or wires present.

Thanks,

Mike

I'm thinking it lost its settings after being dead so long. It may " think" it's no longer a free play machine. I've never set up an s plus for free play. Hopefully one of the pros will chime in.

At this point I'm not yet worried about the free play, just trying to get past the door open issue so I can see if I can get the machine to work.

Thanks for your reply.

I was actually thinking about s2000 configuration where you tell the machine whether it's a upright or slant top, and that that may have been causing a nonexistent door open error.
I forgot the s plus doesn't have that!  :duh:
You said there was no BV but, in the little hole where it goes, there should be another switch. If so, check that.
