need 10mhx game chip, and BV question
« on: January 23, 2024, 08:36:50 PM »
have a 1999 s plus red, white, and blue.  16mhz mpu wasted by acid.  i had a 10mhz board, installed it and works well. no sound though, i need a game prom. the 16mhz chip is sp 1309.  what numbers will work in my 10mhz? i can burn roms, i think i have a few images, probably some game roms. just dont know what numbers will work.

2nd question, which i may have to move to the BV page. the BV rejects all bills. the bill accepter light does come on, so i dont think is the game prom but could it be?  the game buttons are in english/french. the bezel says it accepts 5-100 bills. i never saw a minimum of 5 before.  its a wba-21-ss, but the eprom says "wba ID 23 good", hand written label. could it be the game software, or the eprom?

thanks

If your Red White & Blue game is a standard game with no nudging (ie. not a "Deluxe" game), any SP ("GAME") chip that supports Type 0 games and isn't designated as 16MHz will work. There is a list of SP chips in the FAQs in this section, but here's a direct link. I would recommend SP1271, but there are literally dozens that will work for you. In case you were thinking about asking, please be aware that we don't permit requests for or transfer of copyrighted software on this site, and despite its age, the files for those chips are still copyrighted material.

As far as the bill validator, there might be a DIP switch setting that is preventing it from accepting $1 bills. New Jersey gambling regulations used to prohibit slot machines from accepting bills smaller than $5, so that's where a lot of the "Accepts $5-$100" bezels came from, although other jurisdictions might have had similar rules. Also, high denomination machines would have been set to not accept bills smaller than their credit amount, so if that was a $5 denomination machine, it would have been configured that way too.

With the power OFF, check to see if DIP switch 2 is set to ON. If it is, that may be what is causing it to reject $1 bills.

You need to use a SET chip.

You replace the game chip with the set chip, choose the denomination, and enable the validator.
Then you replace the set with the game chip. The validator should then light up.

Basically the S+ works on "coins" and whatever is in place for a sample coin, and hopper wheel is what is accepted and spit out. The machine doesn't know if this is penny, nickle, dime, quarter etc.
One is as good as the next - as long as they match the sample coin and the rest of the coin handling handles that size of coin your golden for coin acceptance.
1 coin in = 1 credit.

Bills are different. How many credits do you get for a $1.00 ?? if you select $0.25 you get 4, if you select $0.01 you get 100 etc. It actually doesn't need to match the coin handling at all.

You can see Ricks FAQs on the main page (bottom right) for details on how to use a SET chip.

If your ordering a SET chip also get a Clear chip. Hopefully you will never need one but they are handy to have around.
If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.
