Bally EM 831-ZZSL payout for 777

I have a Bally 831-ZZSL three coin machine that does not pay with 777 on line TWO or line THREE. The lights on the top panel flash, the bell rings and the Top light flashes. But the Hopper does not run. With 777 on the center line (line ONE) everything works as it should.


I have cleaned and visually checked all the contacts that I could fined. I also checked most of them with meter. Some proved difficult to reach without disassembly. I also looked at the alignment of the contacts on the Hopper, the Reel unit, and the feature assembly in the top of the machine.


I manually set every winning combination shown on the front glass and everything else pays out as it should.


So what is the common denominator for line TWO and THREE for a "777" jackpot.


I have manuals but no schematic. Does anyone have a lead as where to obtain the correct schematic for this machine?

You might want to check your reel wiper contacts. You can use a scotch bright pad on the wiper boards contact buttons. If I remember correct there is a relay for line 2 and line 3 for the 7’s payout in the top feature unit.

As far as your payout, I am not overly surprised that you have no payout with a 3rd coin hit.  a 1000 coin jackpot in many games causes the lights to blink, the bell to ring and in the good old days required a hand payout.  SOME machines paid up to 200 or so coins and the balance was a hand pay.  You got to meet the Casino Money girl...  I cant tell by the shots that you posted which of the scenarios would apply to your game.


The no payout on the second coin is a horse of another color.  I agree with amechanic in that I would start my investigation with the reel wiper fingers and then possibly the beau plugs.


Badbaud, on this forum has many many schematics.  He is a great guy and I would try him first.  If he does not have what you are looking for there are other sources that I have not personally dealt with.  I am sure that they are good too however I wanted to give you the assurance of my personal experience in dealing with Badbaud MANY time in the past.

Ra.. You are correct. My brain didn’t think about how the games don’t payout the largest jackpots. They strictly got to a hand payout and usually need to click the reset switch. Then I would think that the second line 777 jackpot relay is dirty or just not working correctly. That would be in the feature unit. This is where the extention cables come in handy.

I had forgotten that the 1000 coin jackpot only turns on the lights to call an attendant as RiseLikeRa and Amechanic mentioned. So I'll put that part of the problem to bed. But I still think the line TWO, 200 coin payout, should should pay. The line ONE jackpot does pay out 200 coins.


I'll recheck the relays again with a meter. Maybe I missed something. I'll also make contact as you suggested to get a schematic.


I'll update this post if I find anything.


The irony of this is that while actually playing the machine the only time I have hit the 777 jackpot was on line TWO. Really bummed me out when it didn't pay. I guess I'll have to speak to the attendant about that.

You did say that you manually setup the 777 on lines 1-2&3, and that it didn’t pay on line 2 but did on line 1? If both lines pay the same 200 coins. If Alan at KLar doesn’t have the schematic, there is a person on EBay that has schematic too.

I actually went to Dunes in 1991 and played on their golf course in the back of the casino back then!
That was the last time I was in Las Vegas!

Well, I guess you are correct. I have been there so much in the past 10 years  that I see  nothing all that great about the city itself. I agree lady luck may smile on some visitors. As a point of information the Lady Luck Hotel and Casino has closed and I think it is now the "D".

Jackpot relay contacts might need cleaning due to lack of use.
Same with the payout step up unit, dirty contacts on the 200 pay from lack of use.
Some machines just go dark and the lights around the 777’s will come on.

I’m thinking if anyone replaced the reel wipers they did not make the proper cuts
