Well after examining the the rocker/roller arm for the adjustment nut/screw,  there was none!

I fixed that,  did a hopper test, got a 10 coin pay.

But the 42, 43 errors is frustrating.  It will work almost flawless with the door open, but close the door and the 2 or 2/3 reels don’t lock after a couple pulls.

Those fault code can be cause by the reels spinning too slow. Make sure nothing is making contact with the door when closed.. Are the ends of the reel strips secure? What I mean is not stick up at the ends? I have seen them hit the door when closed. Also make sure that the light shields don't rub on the reel tins.. Did you oil the reels hubs then self/ There is an oil hole on each hub..I have a long plastic tube oiling bottle to reach them..

Thank you, yes. A couple drops in the hole in the hub.   Well I played it Many times tonight and it seems to play fine now,  maybe everything just needed to work in ?

The pays are correct also, I just misinterpreted the symbols.

Well today it played like it’s old self, 3-4 pulls and 42 or 43.

I pulled the mech out removed the reels and re lubed everything again,  it’s really pretty smooth action.

So if the first reel index’s,the the 2 and 3 don’t lock,    What would cause that?  An error reading the FIRSt reel.

try running with the door open - run test 8 - use the coin switch to "coin up" pull handle - if game plays okay could be the door switch causing problem.  Also could be a bad reader - try using the 5 test to check each reel and reel position for proper read.  The eseries manual will help you with these tests.

Have you tried to clean the reel readers? Bulbs could be dirty or they could be misadjusted. Loosen the two mounting bolt holding the reader in place. Unlatch reel two and give it a light spin. Then adjust the reader so that the cam the runs in the middle of the reader is as far to the lefts as possible. I think the manual says 1/16” but I try to give it about a cams width distance clearance from the inside left edge of the reader. Tighten the bolts and check your clearance again by spinning by hand. Repeat with the others. If this doesn’t help you could try swapping reader 2 to the #1 position. If it does you will get a code 41 and no reels will stop

The latest,   I cleaned the bulbs and the openings for the phototransistor,  checked the boards, sheesh, found a couple bad joints, for bulbs and the leads between the two boards. Fixed those, I put 3 in the 1 position and 1 in the 3,  played exactly the same.

I put 2 in the 1 position,  the reels wouldnt Lock.

I put 2 in the 3 position, and it plays, but 3 won’t lock sometimes, so I know it’s the original #2 reader that’s giving me the problem.  So now,  What on that board goes bad?  I’ll check it tmmrw for visual problems,  but is there something specific on that board.

Thanks for all your help in getting me this far,  Mark.

I’m guessing that you have a weak phototransistor on that reel reader. If all 5 bulbs look good and none are burnt, that’s my guess because the problem follows that reader.
