After over 20 years of fixing E series machines this one game is kicking my butt.
I'll throw out some problems and findings on the forum to see if anyone has a solution.
The game is a E-809-2, someone had removed the reel data wires from the Beau connectors and wired reel commands and reads directly from the I/O board
to the reel mech via a 12 pin Molex connector.
I can Ohm out every related wire from the I/O board's related chip pin to the related chip pin on the reel decoder board and all of the connections check out correctly.
Using the M1/755-43, M2/755-44, M3/755-45 that came with the game when I got it does not give any test 5 results, just 0.0.0.0.
Test 2 through 4 work, test 6 through 8 works, but 8 gives a tilt when a game is played because the reel data is missing.
Looking at Control Bit 0 on U3 of the Reel Control Board I see a train of 5 pulses then one wide pulse.
Fox Slots recommended I try M1-M3 755-12 thru 755-14, test 5 worked, I see the correct U3 control bit single pulses that poll the reel reader cards.
BUT those M1-M3 chips are for a Australian game that had door optics, hopper optics, and coin optics.
So the 50 code never goes away with the door closed and the hopper either blows it's fuse or only runs during the coin out switch being manually toggled.
Test 8 with those chips works and when a win is seen shows the correct amount.
Apparently two shops have had this game before me and could not repair it, I was told the person who did the Beau to Molex mod passed away.
Is there a M1-M3 that will work in this game? I tried the latest M1-M3 chips to see if they would work and no reel read.
Everything works on my E-series tester with the 43-45 M chips and the latest M chips but in the machine no reel reads are seen.
