Bally s6000 coin issue
« on: September 20, 2020, 11:50:12 AM »
I have A s6000 fireball frenzy. Put a quarter in and it falls though to the win tray. If I wedge the rake open it goes though to the coin collection without registering credit. It runs fine with hitting pseudo coin with the door open. There is no error code, just two dots in the win paid and insert coin flashing. Coin comparitor is a CC-16-D.100. The green light is not on, but the yellow one below on the board is. So, Whats up?

Does the comparator light come on when you pull out the door switch stem?
Do you have the correct sized coin entry slot on the coin optic board?
If it is sized for dollar coins and you are dropping in nickles or quarters they could be missing an optic.

The comparitor is the one the one that came with it. It was working with quarters.
My door has I think two eyes looking at each other when the door is shut.

Replace the quarter in the comparitor.  Also adjust the sensitivity pot on the lower right fully CCW.

Seems like the machine is seeing the door closed( green LEDS on to accept dollars??)  there is a switch on the front of the board that has to be on for the cc-16 to operate,  is it in the up position?  you can fool the machine to think the door is closed (even though it is open) by shinning a flashlight at the cabinet optic, if all is working the machine will be in coin accept mode.

Jim,
I shined a light in the eye and the green light on the comparitor came on, acted like the door was shut. quarter still goes straight though. Yeas it will take dollars bills and work. The switch you are refering two is the coin mech switch on the front of the board right? yes it is in the up position

in you first post you stated that " it was working on quarters"  what changed?

Just tried shimming out the rake. the quarters fall though to the hopper inside and does not register as any credits.
I got the machine a year ago when I bought a IGT Wild Cherry. The guy gave me the Bally because it stopped working. I changed out the battery, did a complete clear and reset and it ran no problems.
I was playing it some time ago and I think I hit either the change or print ticket instead of the bet one button. It started cashing me out, but there was not enough quarters in the machine so it stopped. I tried adding more quarters but that didn't help. It just kind of locked up. I forget if there were any codes showing. I just waked away from it for quite a while and now decided to try to get it going again. I did a ram clear and that got to the point it is now. Quarters fall right though to the tray. It will take dollars and work, pseudo coin and it will work.

To complete a payout after refilling the hopper tap the reset button then close the door.

Check the pins on the back side of mpu where it plugs into backplane, make sure one didn't get bent when installing the mpu. If they are all good I would get a new coin mech and or optic board.
